As the offseason comes to a close with our first games of S28 already played, it’s time for our seasonal S27 spooky awards! League wide awards are contentious topics every season and at Yellowknife we like to recognise the tremendous performance everyone on our team puts in every season. We have a fantastic group of users and they all deserve awards but here are the winners according to your votes:
Offensive player of the year
Colby Jack
Also Receiving votes
Mark Walker
Zee Rechs
Bruce Buckley
Colby Jack followed up his MVP season with another stellar year. At this point, he is in the MVP for the whole league talk each and every season. He just knows how to make plays time after time. It helps having some good weapons around him, he has some great blocking, solid receivers from the wide out, tight end and running back positions. He finished with the third most passing yards on the season, with a crazy 67.2 completion percent on 637 attempts. That was good for the second highest completion percentage of the season. Also throwing for 35 touchdowns with only 13 interceptions on the season, ending with a stellar 99.5 QB rating on the season. Only thing that would have made that better was if we had gotten the chance to play in the playoffs!
Rechs and Walker both had excellent breakout seasons as they became premium parts of the Yellowknife offence. Buckley protected the QB in his regular fashion with another season without allowing a sack.
Defensive Player of the Year
Douglas Quaid
Also Receiving votes
Big Slammu
Douglas Quaid was a standout performer this season with his only competition for this award being his fellow LB Slammu. Quaid put up the most tackles in the league as well as getting double digit numbers on TFLs and Sacks. While the 4-3 scheme put him behind other LBs in sack numbers, he was an all-around performer with an Int, 9 PDs and a near league topping 5 FF, 3 of which he recovered.
His partner in crime Slammu made his presence known this season with 11 sacks as a sign of great things to come from him.
Team MVP
Colby Jack
Also Receiving votes
Zee Rechs
Douglas Quaid
Nero Alexander
Colby wins the team MVP this season! It is hard to argue with this pick as he is such a huge part of the team. He is a top 3 quarter back in the league pretty much every season. He has won this award multiple times, but it is voted on by our players, so apparently we agree with him being the team MVP time and time again.
Most Improved player
Mark Walker
Also Receiving votes
Zee Rechs
Dijibutee McJimmerson
Big Slammu
Walker barely missed out on 1000 yards last season and smashed it this season with 1247 yards and also had the most TDs for a receiver on the team! After playing second fiddle to Sakura for several seasons, Walker has now fully broken out as another elite receiver in the long line of Wraith receivers.
Zee Rechs was unfortunate to miss out on TEotY this season as he played a true TE spot with 731 yards, 8 TDs and 48 pancakes, putting him up there with the best in the league. McJimmerson showed he was just as good as his S25 CB partner in Foster as he improved to 18 PDs, 2 Ints and added a couple of rare CB sacks. Slammu moved back to his regular position of LB last season and shone there. After a quiet rookie season, he shot up to 11 sacks and formed a formidable LB partnership with Douglas Quaid.
Rookie of the year
Leonard Taylor
So, we only had 1 rookie this season so while this award was never really in doubt, Taylor would have deserved the award any season! A great addition to the team, Taylor put in work on the more difficult side of the DL and still came out with 4 TFLs and 8 sacks. A promising start for the rookie that should only go up over the next few seasons.
Performance of the year
Colby Jack – W10
Also Receiving votes
Mark Walker – W5
Patrik Money – W12
A runaway winner for this award as Colby Jack lit up the Berlin Fire Salamanders to the tune of 318 yards and 5 TDs. While he just missed out on a nomination for league wide PerformanceOTY, the Yellowknife players know what’s up as he ran away with this award with the majority of votes being for his performance.
Walker put up a dramatic 166 yards with a TD on only 5 receptions in week 5 as Yellowknife eased past Baltimore. Money woke up for a game with 2 FF/FRs in the same game and got all over the sheet with 8 tackles, 1 TFL and a Sack.

UberBJ
PMoney
Darkness has quickly become one of the prominent users in the league over the past few seasons. The recent HO acquisition has proven to be a hit with users already as he helps provides a more open and transparent view to HO and his commitment to the team has been just as exemplary. He’s seemingly around at every time of day and always willing to help answer questions and be a help anywhere he can.
Locker Room MVP

Arkz
Shady
Darkness Rising
ZootTX
This award goes to the player who is always there to help everyone out. The guy who gets us hyped up, who keeps it real in the locker room. UberBJ is definitely one of the louder guys in the locker room, but he isn't just loud. He is always willing to help anyone who needs it. Also, he is always lobbying to make the team better by trying to get kai sakura traded at any given moment.
Arks, Shady, Darkness and ZootTX are also all great locker room guys.

The Cooter Bigsby Award is a prestigious award that only gets awarded to the most enigmatic of players. That makes Cooter Bigsby the obvious winner this season as while he hasn’t been seen since his walkoff ultimus win, the winds of Yellowknife still whisper his name. We thank TC for still filling in the team awards every season, even if he does nominate Cooter for every award.
Additional shoutouts go to:
UberBJ, Arkz, NTG, Fly for being awesome! And everyone else on this team. Let's get back to the championship!
Everyone. I’ve loved my time so far and it has been a blast to get to know everyone
Fly and PMoney for being great GMs!
“NTG - He sucks LMAP”
Nero, Mervin and Maurice as our retiring wraiths this season. While your players are no longer on the team, you’ll always be wraiths!
