It will surely be a night to remember for the young Russian born defensive tackle Egor Medved as he was picked third overall in the DSFL draft by the Tijuana Luchadores. Although previous sources had linked him with a potential move to Norfolk or Portland and obviously the team he played for recently San Antonio, this came as a surprise for everyone, maybe even the player himself?
Although hardly anybody predicted Medved going as high as he did, even jumping higher than Andre Bly Jr. - a very high level talented cornerback, perhaps, his recent performance at the DSFL Championship final maybe had a certain say in the high pick. An impressive indvidual performance during San Antonio's 13 - 3 win against Seawolves wasn't left unnoticed with many NSFL experts claiming a great future for the defensive tackle.
DSFL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME STATS: 7 tackles, 3 sacks, 1 fumble recovery
Egor Medved was picked as a waiver much earlier than the final game, however this is currently his only game played in the DSFL. A slight ankle injury kicked him out of action and despite the team's doctors' saying that he's 75% ready the coaching staff decided to wait for the very final to release the Bear.
Unfortunately for them, it seems that the next season or even more than that Egor will be facing their offensive line and they'll have to come up with something to stop the Russian.
We managed to get a small statement from Egor himself:
"I'm very happy, really. However, it was a big surprise, the organisation hadn't really contacted me before, but to be on the stage as a first rounder is always a big pleasure. I'll work my ass off to prove that they made the right choice. The relocation to Tijuana is also better for my family who are still living in Phoenix, it's a much shorter flight now. Let's go Luchadores! *flexes* "
