kckolbe stepping down as gm was certainly a surprise to me, I think this will have a big effect on San Antonio going forward. I won't count them out but with a gm stepping down and already being in a rut it will be very hard to get back into form in time for playoffs.
1. (6-4) Portland Pythons (+0)
Portland came away from weeks 9 and 10 with 2 steals on the road and a very happy squad. They beat Norfolk at Norfolk, a team they haven't beaten anywhere all year, and then went on to embarrass the Kansas City Coyotes at home. Their trinity as I stated in my last power rankings is in full effect. Glenn McPoyal and Blessed Storm have found their niche in the offense and both are exploding with great plays at key points in the game. However, according to a behind the scenes interview with star receiver Dwayne Aaron, Borro Gore is the reason that they were able to beat Norfolk. "We knew that he was a great player, we just had to find a good balance between him and John (Goose), the whole Running Back by Committee thing has certainly worked, Both of our backs have been making plays and is a good reason we won that game." Borro Gore has been quite active and is making every effort to get better. Portland may be the team to beat in the Ultimini this year (again).
2. (5-4-1) Palm Beach Solar Bears (+0)
I got a lot of flak for putting Palm Beach at number 2 in my last rankings but what do ya know they beat both SA and TIJ on the road who are both top teams of the league. Credit to Booter for making this team as scary as it is. This team could very possibly jump to the number 1 spot if they can keep this up next week against Portland.
3. (5-4-1) Tijuana Luchadores (+1)
The luchadores lost against Palm Beach but managed to pick up a resounding win against the Coyotes. With San Antonio experiencing difficulties as of lately Tijuana seems one of the only stable teams. However their offense seems rather inefficient. They managed to get 3 field goals and 2 touchdowns off of a whopping 4 turnovers. This means that the Tijuana offense was only able to score a maximum of 1 time without their defense giving them a turnover. This worries me, because against a clean team like the Solar Bears (who they lost to) and the Pythons, this kind of offensive inefficiency just won't get the job done. Arbin Asipi may not be able to lead the Luchadores to the Ultimini if he cannot get drives going.
4. (5-5) Norfolk Seawolves (+1)
The Seawolves may not be an immediate threat to win the ultimini but they have certainly proven troublesome for the top teams of the league. They have bested Portland twice (however losing the most recent matchup) and recently destroyed San Antonio. They are a team to be worried about especially if you are Portland. The road to a second straight championship goes through the Seawolves.
5. (5-5) San Antonio Marshals (-2)
This was a rough 2 games for San Antonio. They lost a game at home against the Solar Bears in an embarrassing match up and struggled to get anything going against Norfolk on the road. They lost one of their gms and although I have no inside information, I have a feeling things aren't great in the locker room. Losing kckolbe may not end their season but it certainly has made the road ahead far more difficult.
6. (3-7) Kansas City Coyotes (+0)
The Coyotes suck as always, and I guess I will just keep saying it...There are very very few bright spots on this team. Tomatonose has been the only reliable target for Borkus maximus, maximus himself is constantly under pressure and is forced to make bad throws that result in interceptions. And the defense cannot stop a nosebleed. Cordell Joshua has been by far the brightest spot on this team. And he may be the only Coyote to go in the first round, and with how talented the draft is that may not even happen.
