Marquise Brown, donned in Florida State University branded workout clothes, enters the room and approaches the podium. He just got through with a workout that scouts were able to see.
"Hello, my name is Marquise Brown, I'm a runningback from Florida State, and I'll be entering the DSFL draft this year in hopes of being drafted to an NSFL team down the line. This class has it's share of talented players, but I think that I can separate myself from the pack and really show why I deserve to be here. I'd like to take this time to answer any questions that you all might have."
"Uh... Y'know, I feel like I take inspiration from a lot of players' games. Like for example, I think that in terms of my receiving game, Carter Bush comes to mind. One of the most dominant receiving backs in the league for sure... But I guess all-around I'd say that Owen Taylor is one guy that really stands out most in my mind. He's one of my favorite players in the league and dude is a stud. So if I were to pinpoint one player that I model my game after, it'd be Owen Taylor. But like I said, I take a lot of aspects from other players as well."
"It's been great. Yeah, I've been meeting with scouts from different teams, focusing on showing off what I can do and what I can do for a DSFL team. I'm stoked for the draft and to finally be drafted. It's way different than college, and it's been more challenging as well to make a name for myself. But I'm up for the challenge."
"Well... I don't have a preference as to who I get drafted by and when, and to be honest, I couldn't care less. I believe I'm the best player in this draft class bar none. I know some people don't see it that way, including some GMs. But that's their loss, you know? I'll say this: If I get drafted early like I should, then that's great. I'll be able to show why I deserve to have been taken in that spot. If I get drafted late, then that's also good, because I'll have a chip on my shoulder and I'll make sure that some GMs regret their mistakes."
"A lot of teams stand out to me for different reasons. I think it'd be fun to be able to play on a powerhouse team, but I think that being drafted by a less successful team would be great as well. I'm a natural-born leader, so NSFL teams will be getting someone that they can count on to lead a backfield and more importantly the team, and they'll also be getting someone with a team-first personality and someone that's focused on winning if they draft me. I hope that answers your question."
"That's a great question. There have been so many talented NFL players that have come and gone, and so many of those players have been inspirations to me on the field, and even in life. For that reason, I couldn't give you a clear answer as to what I'd want to be compared to during my career. For a runningback, I think one of the greatest runningbacks to ever touch the field would have to be Barry Sanders. I mean he did it all, he was always able to find so many holes and weaknesses in defenses and he was also an exceptional receiver. I know I can be as talented and as capable as he was, and I'll be working on improving my repertoire, if you will, so that I can be an offensive weapon no matter the situation. But, my favorite NFL player of all time is definitely Tom Brady. He's the GOAT after all. The man just has a winning mentality, and does everything he can to lead and carry his squad to Super Bowls. He was a sixth round QB, and everyone overlooked him. But, he was able to make a name for himself and he was also able to take advantage of the opportunities given to him. I think the greats all have that mentality y'know, that eye of the tiger if you will, that all they want to do is lead a team and win. Once I get to the DSFL and the NSFL, I'll want to be exactly like that. But I could go on and on about different NFL players and how they've helped and inspired my way of playing football."
"Oh hell yeah...! Sorry if I can't cuss.. haha. But yeah man. So many studs in this DSFL draft that I'm excited to lace up against. Guys like Thibault, strong run stoppers that have fantastic playmaking ability, Tyler Griffin is also someone who's looking to cause trouble in the league too. But I'm up for the challenge, like I said, and I honestly just can't wait to get out on the field man!"
"No, but keep in mind that I declared for the draft just yesterday. I'm confident that teams will be reaching out soon though."
"Yeah totally. I've been doing a bunch of research. So many talented backs in the league like Rainey, Millan, Taylor, Bush... I'll be looking forward to playing with and against them."
“Oh man, these runningbacks are something else! I mean my dawg Adams is in the class, we played ball in Florida State together. The dude is built like a truck, and he show it too. There’s also Lagerfield who is similar in playstyle to me, also there’s Strike who’s a beast... but like I said before I think that I’m the clear best player in this draft, I think I have better intangibles, speed, and overall skill than the other guys do. I also believe that I’m a leader, and I’m looking to lead a team to victory. I’m not sure the other dudes have that blood in them. Not a knock on those guys, but it is what it is!”
