The Kansas city coyotes came in this season carrying a good draft haul in my unbiased opinion. They snagged two talented Linebackers in virtanen and Gaines and proving so far that they can produce good defensive play, they had a solid secondary of defensive backs playing decently so far, they have talented offensive weapons but dispite all that talent the coyotes only mustered a 2 - 4 record so far and I'm going to say it. Jay longshaw might be holding back the coyotes but lets let's see if he's really holding them back with a quick review of the team performance so far so we can truly see if longshaw is holding them back.
Is the defense living up to the hype? So far the coyotes as a whole have 343 tackles (1st), 31 tackle of losses (1st), 2 Force Fumbles (5th), 9 in sacks (4th) and 4 interceptions (4th) those stats doesnt looked that bad on paper but do those stats tell the whole story? They are allowing on average 32 points a game marking them last in the DSFL.
Hows the offense? Now let's see how the offense as a whole is doing. For rushing the coyotes have 202 rushing attempts for 989 yards, Averaging 4.9 and 7 TDs. In the passing game the coyotes reciever manage to catch 83 passes for 919 yards and 8 TDs. Compared to the rest of the league the offense defiantly need to see some improvement.
Hows that front 7? So far stat wise this got to be the best linebacking core with gains and virtanen combining for 137 tackles. On the big boys side the line as a whole manage to get 60 tackles and only a disappointing 2 sacks.
Is the defensive backs playing there part? For tackles the defensive backs as a whole has 146 tackles but they could do better at getting turnovers only getting 4 interceptions.
Is Jay longshaw the answer? Jay longshaw seems to have all the physique traits to dominate this league but he's really not doing the best that he should be doing. He's 4th in passing 919 passing yards 8 TDs which makes him one of that tops scorer so far. Decent but the real flaw in his game is that he having trouble completing 50% of his passes and you really cant blame the receivers cause banks is having a beast season so far. And then we go to interceptions with 9 leading the league he got more picks then TDs dispite being the top scorer.
In conclusion. I think his team could see improvement but longshaw defiantly need to do better with picks if we really wanna dominate the rest of the season and the defense needs to come together and play like a team.
