For Rookies wanting to learn more about the DSFL teams they are being drafted into. I figured I would do a recap of the S20 season and the re-activation of the Norfolk Seawolves. I’ll cover the draft, and the players drafted, then go week by week to talk about the games and how as a team we did. This is my first time doing something like this so please bear with me and leave any criticism you have, hopefully I can make this a regular thing.
The Draft
![[Image: C2iKZGM.png]](https://i.imgur.com/C2iKZGM.png)
1. Cal Lidious: Norfolk Drafted Cal here because they needed a QB as a reactivated bot team and Cal from the start looked to be a big pick. He talked a lot about being an active and dedicated player who was prepared for the responsibilities of being a leading QB. He quickly jumped on his rookie tasks and the tasks for the Ultimus Week, as well as joining fantasy. However after a quick and hot start his activity slowed and he hasn’t been seen much since.
2. Dorfus Jimbo Jr.: This is a scorp recreate so he had to take himself here. While not a top earner on the team he IS the GM so I think he can be forgiven there a bit. Obviously active and it can’t be a bad pick as it was required. Not much else so say about this here. 6 Sacks and 15 Tackles For Loss he has done his job on the team well!
3. Herb was pretty active from the start as well, but after posting some early media and the delay in the DSFL games getting started he began to show visible frustration with the forums and went inactive. Obviously he showed something promising from the start and he still had two Pick 6’s through the season even while inactive. Would probably have done well if he had stuck with the team.
4. Ryan Scott has stayed fairly active and has been one of the more solid contributors on the Norfolk defense. With 144 Tackles giving him #3 in the league, 6 sacks and even 1 interception he has been an anchor in the Norfolk defense. A solid pick who has remained active.
5.Atlas Quin: Quin has maintained a good level of activity, one of the players who has checked in every week and has remained updated. He’s rocking 1 Forced Fumble, 2 interceptions and 8 passes defended. While not elite numbers He’s maintained a good level and I think he is a good teammate. With 45 tackles he has also been one of the few bright spots in the Norfolk Secondary and if he gets sent back down will help anchor the teams defense.
6. Juniped Catfish: Is it weird to talk about myself? I’ve been streaky and been pretty active in the locker room. I’ve had some crazy games and some games where Myrtle Beach stuffs me at the line and I look like a dead weight. I think I’ve been a solid contributor to the offense with the help of my team but it still feels weird to evaluate myself. If anyone else wants to feel free but I’m just going to move on.
7. Tequila Sunrise: Another good running back pickup however Tequila is a receiving running back so during the Norfolk season was used effectively as a wide receiver. Tequila had 670 yards and 4 touchdowns over the year, a solid performance for playing in a non primary position. Tequila was also elected as team captain and has helped lead the team all season.
8. Jeff Personsacker: The defense side of the captains, while Jeff may be lower on TPE than his peers he’s been an active member of team and has been fairly efficient above his closest replacement. He has 50 tackles, 14 for loss and 6 sacks.
9. Remon Kurisito: The WR #1 for Norfolk this season, Remon has been another active and valued member of the locker room, and one of the top earners of the squad. He also racked up 583 yards and 4 touchdowns, even a 45 yard pass at one point in time. A solid anchor for the offense.
10. Pete Miller has been the top earner for the squad and a very solid team contributor. With 45 tackles, 9 for loss, 4 sacks and two forced fumbles, Pete has been one of the bright spots on a mostly lacking defense.
11. Reynaud Haugland: The primary TE for Norfolk, Reynaud has been an active and contributing member of the Norfolk offense. While not as effective as some of his peers, 429 yards and one touchdown is still nothing you should scoff at. A valued member of the offense he should be a prime target for anyone in the draft.
12. Robin Reynolds: The second member of the running back my committee team, while lower on TPE and activity, Robin has still been able to be a great member of the Norfolk offense. Racking up more total yards than Catfish, Robin has been able to perform effectively, even at a lower TPE amount.
13. The rest of the picks in the draft have gone mostly IA or retired, with some never even reporting to the locker room. While unfortunate this is sometimes the result of a larger draft class. Either way I don’t have a lot to say about the players here.
I talked more about the draft and what happened to the Norfolk players in another article but in summary, there were a lot of solid picks, unfortunately some of the top picks did not work out in the long run, but in my opinion the draft was still pretty solid for Norfolk as a whole.
Game Recaps

Week 1:
I’ll be honest there were not a ton of bright spots for this first game. However that’s how most teams games vs Myrtle Beach were for most of the season. For week 1 Norfolk played @Myrtle Beach and their rookie offense was firmly locked down by the Myrtle Beach defense who was anchored by solid rookie defense and a few solid veterans. The Norfolk Defense was trounced, even giving up a 80 yard run to Siddhu Sarvepally 7 minutes into the first quarter, and then another pass from Ramos to Sabor at the end of the first. In the Second Quarter Norfolk was able to stop the Myrtle Beach offense and even score one of their own with a 10 yard pass from Lidious to Sunrise. However that would be the end of the Norfolk offense. After a silent third quarter from both teams, Myrtle Beach would go on to kick a 31 yard field goal and then another passing touchdown in the fourth quarter to lock the game down. While Norfolk lost, Jeff Personsacker had a great game with a sack, a forced fumble and a tackle for loss.
![[Image: 9fr7dqz.png]](https://i.imgur.com/9fr7dqz.png)
Week 2:
Week two started out a little better for the Seawolves. Starting out they were able to hold Tijuana to only a single early field goal in the first quarter, however they were unable to capitalize and make any progress themselves and remained scoreless despite a forced fumble by Miller late in the quarter.. In the second half both teams scored on a 6 yard run from Catfish early on. Norfolk was almost able to score again after an interception from atlas Quin, however Tijuana's Holcombe was able to intercept the ball back to prevent the Seawolves from scoring again. Late into the quarter Tijuana was able to score on a 1 yard run from Nick Nation. The Third Quarter went much worse, with the seawolves offense being stopped completely by Tijuana again and Tijuana being able to score two more times on a 1 yard run from Matt Meagher and a 16 yard pass to Jordan McCann by the Xecutioner. The only good drive that quarter by Norfolk was stopped again by an interception, this time by Alexander Ryan. Finally in the fourth quarter Norfolk was able to stop Tijuana's offense from making any progress, however they were not able to score until late into the quarter from a massive 45 yard pass to Remon Kurisito. This would spell too little too late for the Norfolk Offense and with 4:41 left on the clock they were unable to score again and lost 15-23. Despite the loss Remon Kurisito had a great performance with 94 yards, a touchdown and that 45 yard catch.
![[Image: ZpIhsWH.png]](https://i.imgur.com/ZpIhsWH.png)
Week 3:
Obviously this week had a much better performance from both the offense and the defense. The first quarter was a defensive showdown, with neither team able to make progress into the endzone and an interception thrown my Lidious. However at the start of the second half Norfolk breaks the deadlock with a rushing touchdown by Robin Reynolds. The Norfolk defense was able to stop the Portland defense this quarter and the next, and manage to score a field goal in both Q2 and Q3. Norfolk caps off a massive game with another field goal and two more touchdowns by Remon and Robin while only allowing a single field goal from Portland. The whole team put together amazing performances with both RBs having over 100 yards but especially Robin with 27 carries for 5.2 yard per carry and two touchdowns. Cal also had his second 200+ yard throwing game.
![[Image: 5JHO3dd.png]](https://i.imgur.com/5JHO3dd.png)
Week 4:
Week 4 was huge for Norfolk with them beating Myrtle Beach, one of the best teams of the season. This was another game with an uneventful first quarter. Nothing happened score wise until the start of the second quarter where disaster seemed to strike for Norfolk. When a Norfolk Pass was intercepted by Prince Vegeta (Then Leffery Lavert) on the Norfolk 49 it seemed scoring was inevitable. Luckily Norfolk was able to hold off the drive and they limited Myrtle Beach to a field goal, and that's when the tides turned. Norfolk answered back quickly with a 76 yard return by Tequila Sunrise where they converted that advantage to a rushing touchdown by Catfish to take the lead 7-3. From there both teams were held scoreless again except for a field goal from Norfolk to end the half. The third quarter was silent again, but in the fourth quarter Norfolk again scored another field goal. Soon Norfolk was able to score again thanks to a massive 32 yard pass to Remon Kurisito into a passing touchdown again to Kurisito. With 6:35 left on the clock after that play Norfolk was able to limit Myrtle Beach to a single field goal, even after a strong drive led by Sarvepally on Myrtle Beach. The game ended with back to back interceptions thrown by both teams. Tequila had a stand out performance this game with three receptions and a 76 yard return that set the team up to take the lead.
![[Image: Cd2aXzY.png]](https://i.imgur.com/Cd2aXzY.png)
Week 5:
Unlike the past two weeks, week 5 started out with a bang. The first play by Tijana after receiving the kickoff was an interception by M. Smart who also made a 30 yard return. From there on first and goal however, Tijuana was able to limit the damage to a single field goal. After that the Norfolk offense was plagued with sack after sack on their drives, but they managed to keep Tijuana from scoring as well. Finally with 14 seconds left in the first quarter Robin Reynolds manages to rush into the end zone and score for the Seawolves. The following Tijuana drive was held down to a field goal, but in a strange turn of fate the second play after the kickoff was an interception thrown by Cal lidious by Moreno on Tijuana. They quickly attempted to turn that into a touchdown but again the red zone defense by Norfolk was stellar and held Tijuana to just a field goal again. This time the Norfolk drive was led off by a 28 yard return by Catfish, and only 9 plays later they scored from a rush by Robin Reynolds. Defense again held for both teams except for a single field goal by Norfolk until halfway through the third quarter. Herb Altee makes a hero play on the Tijuana 25 and intercepts a pass meant for Tijuana's Ben Kenobi and takes the ball all the way back INTO THE END ZONE. With 6 minutes left in the quarter Tijuana is desperate, but they manage to respond with their first touchdown by Matt Meagher. The fourth quarter is silent from both teams, full of sacks and penalties expected of the DSFL. There was a missed field goal from Tijuana and the game ends on a quiet note with the explosive offense from Norfolk shut down as well. Exceptional performances came from both Catfish and Personsacker that game, with Catfish carrying the ball 110 yards and 5.5 yards per carry while Personsacker had 4 tackles for loss and a sack, in a massive performance to stop Tijuana's running game.
![[Image: kJeRjvk.png]](https://i.imgur.com/kJeRjvk.png)
Week 6:
Another week and another slow start from both teams. A defensive game until the end of the first quarter where Tequila Sunrise scores off a 21 yard pass! Soon into the second quarter Kansas City makes a field goal, but the score is answered right back by a quick drive from Norfolk and a 9 yard run from Catfish into the endzone. Kansas City hearts continue to be broken where the first play is an intercepted pass by Ryan Scott and a quick touchdown pass to extend the lead. Multiple sacks are the story of the next few drives with both teams O-Lines looking shaky. The second quarter ends with a Kansas City interception, followed by two failed drives and broken hearts. On the third drive of the half Kansas City scores on a 10 yard pass and tries to close the gap between the teams. However, neither team manages to score again the rest of the quarter. Nothing even exciting happened, no sacks, no penalties, no interceptions, just boring defense. Thanks Obama. The fourth quarter starts with a field goal from the Seawolves and we dive right back into classic DSFL defense. Sacks and Penalties dominate the game until it ends on a quiet note and fades into the night. An incredible game from Norfolk, the most outstanding performers were Ryant Scott with 12 tackles, an interception and a tackle for a loss. As well as a crazy passing performance from Cal, as well as a 25 yard run! Living out his dreams as a mobile QB.
![[Image: U5fbeGn.png]](https://i.imgur.com/U5fbeGn.png)
Week 7:
Stop me if you’ve heard this before. The first quarter is quiet, nothing really happening. The only score comes from a 45 yard field goal from Minnesota despite an interception by Minnesota. Norfolk responds early in the second with a 29 yard Pick 6 by Bobby Portis! However the Norfolk defense is unable to stop a Minnesota drive a few possessions later and the Ducks take the lead again with a 7 yard pass into the endzone with a minute left in the half. Minnesota manages to get a field goal, even after a 5 minute 14 play possession by the Ducks. The Seawolves take the lead again on the next drive with a strong rushing drive right up the ducks throat and a 4 yard rush into the zone by Catfish. In the fourth quarter the two teams traded sacks but Minnesota managed to take a long possession again, however this time they managed to score a touchdown and a two point conversion with 3:48 left on the clock and the Ducks leading. Norfolk is unable to score with the remaining time and the game ends 21-14 Minnesota, a big showing from both teams' defense. The Pick 6 from Bobby Portis game him the teams outstanding player of the week, but the team was happy with the fight they put up against a very strong team.
![[Image: 4Ga00bs.png]](https://i.imgur.com/4Ga00bs.png)
Week 8:
Now I may be a bit biased, but I really enjoyed this week, I was feeling cute, maybe you can see why. The first quarter looked incredibly grim for the Seawolves as Kansas City manages to score touchdowns on their first and second possessions of the game while Norfolk is held to only two ill fated possessions. The second quarter starts out well for the Seawolves, with a missed field goal from Kansas City, and then on their first drive Norfolk scores ona 54 yard run by Catfish. After that Kansas city was stopped by sacks on two seperate drives by the Norfolk defense. After a massive rush straight down Kansas City's field by the running back combo of Reynolds and Catfish, the Seawolves scored on a 12 yard pass to Sunrise. Penalties left and right keep each team from scoring despite more long rushes from the Seawolves. In the start of the third quarter Norfolk scores off another crazy rushing combo from Reynolds and Catfish with 18 yard runs from both backs. They scored on a 1 yard rush from Catfish and managed to take the lead thanks to a missed extra point from Kansas City earlier in the first quarter. Norfolk is stopped again despite strong showings from their running backs for the rest of the game and a forced fumble with ten yards to go. The Kansas City pass defense was too strong to get past for the rest of the game. Kansas city however was limited only to two field goals, despite strong drives from the Coyotes. Juniped Catfish got the Seawolves play of the game this week with 162 yards on just 16 carries and two touchdowns. If only I could replicate that game more often.

Week 9:
Can I skip this week? No? Ok great well here we go. I’m just going to start off with the scoring summary.
![[Image: aTMc8kX.png]](https://i.imgur.com/aTMc8kX.png)
I have to say, the Myrtle Beach defense is real good, and uh I’ll be honest. It’s my team but the Norfolk defense is not the best. There’s not a lot to say about this week. Norfolk threw three interceptions, and only managed 137 rushing yards combined with 3.4 yards per carry. Despite 319 yards from Norfolk and 415 yards from Myrtle Beach, the Seawolves were just not able to progress past the Buccaneers 40 very often, and Myrtle Beach averaged 10.6 yards per pass. This is where the weakest part of Norfolk's game becomes obvious. The corner backs on Norfolk are not the best and Myrtle Beach managed to put together multiple 20+ yard passes against the Seawolves, with all of them resulting in a touchdown during the drive. They even threw an interception on their own 17 yard line with an immediate 21 yard pass into the endzone by Myrtle Beach. The only score from Norfolk came from a fourth quarter rush by Catfish, followed by two Myrtle Beach touchdowns. This one hurt and would foreshadow the rest of the season for Norfolk. Howerer Remon had another good game despite that with 5 receptions for 50 yards and one 19 yard catch that led to the only score the Seawolves had that game.
![[Image: 7u2ZXJ6.png]](https://i.imgur.com/7u2ZXJ6.png)
Week 10:
The last bright spot of Norfolk's season, they managed to take a beating to the Luchadores even while in Tijuana. This game started off crazy for Norfolk, with touchdowns on back to possessions capped with in interception from Rub A. Chikin. The Seawolves defense limited the Tijuana offense to a single field goal for the rest of the quarter as well. In the second quarter while Tijuana was able to stop the Seawolf offense, they were unable to score on anything other than three field goals. (Which were impressive I might add). The third quarter was uneventful again with the only score from the Norfolk kicker again after a long crawling rush drive from the Seawolf running backs. Quarter four the Seawolves broke the game even more wide open, not from the offense but from two Pick sixes from Herb Altee and Rub A Chikin for 32 and 24 yards each. (The Rub A one with 7 seconds left in the game). Ryan Scott and Thelonious Junk came away with team honors for 2 drive endings sacks from Scott and Junk going 4/4 on extra points and 2/2 on field goals with a 40+ yard field goal.
![[Image: qkBCmWi.png]](https://i.imgur.com/qkBCmWi.png)
Week 11:
The start of the Norfolk defense to really show it’s cracks. While another quiet first quarter, it didn’t take long for Portland to score at the start of the second. Setup by a 25 yard pass and solid ground game, Portland scores despite an incomplete pass on first down on the Norfolk 15. They wouldn’t letup scoring two more times and kicking a field goal between the second quarter and the third. Norfolk was stopped short by Interceptions and sacks, and just solid Portland defense until the fourth quarter where they put together a string of rushes to score off the back of Reynolds and Catfish. This would not be enough as with only 5 minutes left in the game Norfolk fell to the Pythons. With only 8/20 Passes completed by Cal, this game was rough offensively despite Catfish and Reynolds averaging 6.4 and 5.2 yards per carry each.
![[Image: pxmTdZY.png]](https://i.imgur.com/pxmTdZY.png)
Week 12:
This game honestly was not as bad as the last game Norfolk played vs Myrtle Beach, which is a surprise. The game started scoreless outside of a field goal from the Seawolves with 1:50 left in the first quarter. However in the second Norfolk was unable to stop the Buccaneers from scoring. With a 30 yard pass and a strong rushing game that Norfolk was unable to shut down Myrtle Beach took the ball all the way into the endzone from their 10. Despite strong attempts from the Seawolf defense, Myrtle beach was able to score another field goal in the second and the third. Like most Myrtle Beach games, Norfolk had a hard time getting past their Iron Defense even after back to back interceptions to give Norfolk the ball.. In the 4th quarter Myrtle Beach scored again after a 16 and 20 yard pass and strong rushing from the Buccaneers. Norfolk was able to score one field goal with 7 minutes left but it was again too little too late and they went silently into the night.
![[Image: B5iK85f.png]](https://i.imgur.com/B5iK85f.png)
Week 13:
Wow this was a game that started out with crazy defense (or bad offense) and a strong start from Norfolk. First the Tijuana quarterback was sacked by the Seawolves, then the Seawolves QB was sacked, then threw an interception. Followed instantly by Tijuana throwing another Interception. Norfolk was able to convert this to a touchdown after a 16 yard pass to Sunrise. The rest of the quarter was unexciting besides a 42 yard field goal from Norfolk. In the second quarter, the Norfolk defense was finally exploited by Tijuana. The Luchadores threw a 39 yard pass, then scored and then shut down Norfolk. After a punt block vs Norfolk, Tijuana threw another long 13 yard pass and scored on Norfolk again to take the lead. While nobody would score another touchdown in the third quarter, Tijuana manages to score two field goals and get two interceptions that keep Norfolk down. Norfolk continued to fall apart in the fourth quarter with Cal being sacked twice, once for a safety and the Luchadores throwing another 39 yard pass to score again. It was a rough game and the final week does not get any better. This game Norfolk’s wide receivers were very capable but the rushing game was stopped entirely and Cal was not able to shake the interception bug.
![[Image: 0cb6w3n.png]](https://i.imgur.com/0cb6w3n.png)
Week 14:
Norfolk was able to put on a surprisingly strong showing against the eventual Ultimini winners in the final week of the season. While the Grey Ducks scored early, Norfolk was able to stop the bleeding and keep the first quarter silent after that thanks to a forced fumble from Altee to shut down a 20 yard rush. In the second quarter, the Seawolves struck back. Backed by a strong rushing game and major passes, the whole offense looked strong as they drove down the field and into the Ducks endzone. However soon after the defense was not able to stop Minnesota as Baby Yoda made a MASSIVE 68 yard run for a touchdown through the Norfolk defense. Norfolk was stopped from scoring again in the first half, but also managed to keep the Ducks from extending the lead. On the first possession after the half, Norfolk was able to make a strong drive up the field thanks to Sunrise with a 24 yard return and great running by Reynolds. However they were stopped at the MINN 31, but they managed to make a 48 yard field goal to close the gap to 4. They stopped the next Duck drive and after a 30, 16, and 15 yard pass, Reynolds ran the ball into the endzone and the Seawolves took the lead back. The rest of the quarter was punctuated by a 36 yard field goal by the Ducks to bring the game back into a tie. The final quarter started with both teams being sacked repeatedly. However the Norfolk team attempted to get past a stronger Duck defense and managed to rush the ball all the way to the Minnesota 9, but were unable to convert and kicked a field goal to take the lead. The Norfolk defense played like heroes as the game wound down to its final minute, however the defense was charged with 2 massive penalties and the Ducks threw another massive 33 yard pass to the Norfolk 4. With 37 seconds left on the clock, the Ducks threw a pass for a touchdown and Seawolf hearts broke everywhere. The game ended in a sputter for the Seawolves as a miracle play from the Ducks robbed the team of their last chance at victory before playoffs. However despite the loss, the Seawolves had punched their ticket to the playoffs, the only obstacle between them and the Ultimini game? Myrtle Beach.

Playoffs:
Norfolk was thoroughly trounced by a superior team but at least I made an 83 yard kickoff return. ¯\_(?)_/¯ I don’t think talking about this game is really doing justice and I think you would be better served watching the game instead of reading me describe all the long passes and strong rushes they made. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B07OvFwsex4 It was rough and I hope we can only come back stronger.
I hope this was a good primer on the S20 results of Norfolk. If we draft you then you can help us just get better. I think we still had a good season despite the rough ending stretch of the season. I’ve said it before but with the right rookies I think we can continue to build off these results and come back even stronger for S21! If you have any questions about the season feel free to ask me here or on discord, I’ll try and get to it and answer any questions you have. However I hope that wherever you go that you rookies will find success, and good friends to play with. Despite losing, I enjoyed playing the season with my team and in the end I think that’s what really matters. So good luck and may the sim ever be in your favor!
