that's fair.. but you did go 2-12. We should have won the Ultimini but we didn't. I dunno, I've said my peace, i've learned that while there are ways to improve things, it involves extra work and the powers that be just aren't interested in that in the long run

Thats not quite fair to us. Building an awards committee was something we wanted to do to improve awards season due to the popular demand, and the majority of HO/GMs voted on it which is why we have it this year. Yet, of course, it still isn't perfect and probably never will be.

Also, GM is essentially a write-in vote. The nominees are just reflective of who got votes, basically. Just because MB only got 2 votes doesn't mean they weren't second for some that voted differently. I personally voted for Minnesota for the team they built to win the ultimini, and MB was a very close second and I honestly might have voted differently had they won. Portland I can't explain, I don't think they had a shot this year (and I'm saying this as a former Python and LR member) although next season may be a different story depending on how it shakes out.

I took this position to improve this league and we do a lot of what would be considered extra. Hell, just being in a league job in general is extra work, nobody has to take a job here. The rulebook didn't necessarily need to be improved. But Bex did it anyway. The rookie guide didn't really have to be improved. But I did it anyway. Manic didn't have to take on being a simmer along with his HO duties and didn't have to stick around an extra season when he planned on stepping down due to others quitting unexpectedly. But he did it anyway. And these are just examples from HO that I know of, and I know a ton of other dedicated GMs, RMs, PPT members, sim team members, updaters, graders, and department heads that do all extra work to improve the way things are done here.

I appreciate any sort of feedback, positive or negative, and I take any ideas to improve the league seriously because in the end I want what is best for the league. We aren't perfect, we will make mistakes that are fair to call out, and as the league evolves our work here will never be done. Call us out on our mistakes, tell us what we are doing wrong, or what we could do better, and feel free to provide any ideas you have to improve the league. But I will not let you say that we aren't willing to take on extra work or that we aren't interested in improving things. Want to improve things? Start by getting a league job.

Working harder is not working smarter. I don't have time to get a league job, nor do I want one. I have free will to make that choice, as you do to make the choice you made to take a league job. You are getting rewarded for taking extra time to make the league run. I am not getting rewarded for not doing anything extra except being active. That's the main difference.

I never said you guys don't care about the league. In my interactions albeit limited with, again, limited HO people, the reaction I have gotten back is "we'll take it under advisement, but we like the way things are because it works for us" Yet.. you have people saying that it doesn't really work.. it's extremely counter productive.

"The GM vote has always been a write in" Okay? and what's preventing you from changing that based on the results that JUST occurred? Just because something has always been done a certain way does not mean it has to continue being done that way.

You realize anyone watching the stream for the first time, did not equate the tiny writing that said "soandso also got votes" to them being nominated right? We saw 3 names that stood out, any reasonable person would think those werre the nominees and only the nominees. It's like that for EVERY award show ever.

Just because I know my own free time and I know I can not take on a league job due to my otherwise busy lifestyle does not make my opinions any less valid, and saying things like if I want to help the league get a league job is a cop out, and frankly you know better than that

You realize anyone watching the stream for the first time, did not equate the tiny writing that said "soandso also got votes" to them being nominated right?  We saw 3 names that stood out, any reasonable person would think those werre the nominees and only the nominees.  It's like that for EVERY award show ever. 

Just FYI, as I'm a rookie who watched the stream for the first time last night. At the beginning of the stream they explained that for different awards there were between 3 and 5 nominees depending on how people voted. They explained that in cases with 4 or 5 nominees then the lowest-scoring nominees would appear in the "also got votes" section.

Maybe the "also got votes" section should have included how many votes they got, or maybe they should have created a spreadsheet that generated 3, 4 or 5 names that stood out depending on who was nominated. But personally, I felt like they did a good job overall and you could see the time and effort that went into it.
