A former teammate of mine with the New Orleans Second Line who will be up for Hall of Fame voting soon and certainly deserves to make it is Vladimir Fyodorovich. Originally a cornerback drafted to Orange County, Fyodo was traded to NOLA before his second season in 2023. In his second, third, and fourth seasons with the team he made it to the Ultimus every time, winning once. Then, before his fifth season with the team and sixth season overall, Vladimir decided he was unsatisfied with his performance as a defensive back despite the team’s success. He switched to the offensive side of the ball at wide receiver, and immediately made an impact. Not only did New Orleans make a fourth consecutive Ultimus that season, but Fyodo had over 1000 receiving yards. He would go on to have 6 more consecutive seasons eclipsing the 1000-yard benchmark, with a highest of 1637 yards in a single season. That extended peak is what the HoF bid is based on. He was effective as a cornerback as evidenced by the team’s success, but as a wide receiver in his prime, he consistently was a star. While regression slowed him down in his final 2 seasons, he was able to cross the 10000 receiving yards in a career mark, particularly impressive when his first 6 seasons being on defense are taken into account.

Ok, I have to pick one old player to get into the Hall of Fame. This is a tough choice because there have been a lot of great players that have not yet been inducted into the Hall of Fame. Which player should be based on their stats and accomplishments? Realistically, it is Jayce Tuck that should be shooting into the Hall. He was a two time defensive player of the year when I was his teammate on the Arizona Outlaws I believe. We won 3 rings together and I know that he very heavily impacted the game. He always prided himself on having a lot of tackles for losses, which he is currently sitting at the very top of the board for all time. He also currently sits at 4th all time in sacks. He is an absolute sack artist with some incredible moves. Statistically, there is no way a guy like Tuck should not be in the hall. However, there is a lot bigger scandal for him. The Outlaws ended up winning 3 rings with him there, then it was discovered that the league served as a Buffalo Wild Wings for them. A colossal mess up by Tuck and his judgement was him knowing this happened. Statistically though, put this guy in forreal.

I’m not the most up to date on hall of famers or even recently retired players, but I do have one player in mind. Lightsout Lewis was the kind of defender that defensive coordinators plan their entire defenses around. Now, I don’t have stats to back up my opinion on Lewis’ enshrinement, but I can attest to the buzz surrounding Lewis once he hit free agency prior to playing his final season in Yellowknife. He was highly sought after, and that has to count for something in a league where you are only as valuable as you are active. On top of that, I have personal bias because I know Lewis is a good dude and you always want good things to happen to good people. I can also say that I would have loved to share a defense with the guy before he played his last game.
I will close this PT with a variation on the subject and acknowledge two guys I do get share a locker room with. First, I would like nominate Rod Tidwell for immediate induction upon his retirement, which I hope isn’t for a very long time. Another current player that I hope gets a bust in the Hall of Fame would be Mako Mendonca. A constant professional that comes in and performs week in and week out while still being a team leader. Mendonca and Tidwell are two guys that would be very at home in the Hall. 246 Words ![]() ![]() |
