(S21) - PT3 - Quarantine

Complete the weekly Point Task to earn 3 TPE! All written responses must be at least 200 words. All graphic responses must show at least some effort.

Written Option: The NSFL is currently the only operating major sports league in the United States. Write 200 words or more on what you would do if the NSFL decided to suspend the season. What would you and your team do to pass the time (and still practice safe social distancing)? How would your player feel about the lost season?

If the NSFL cancelled their season, Remon Kurisuto would be a very sad lemon. After spending so much time training up from Yale to get here, his debut season would be cut short, and he would have nothing more to do for the season. However, this does not mean that Kurisuto would not continue to train. He has always had a drive for being fast, and this would be a perfect opportunity for him to train up even further. Kurisuto could spend the entire season training with @juniped Catfish in his personal gym, pushing the treadmills up to the limits, trying to set new bests. Despite not having any game time, this could actually improve Kurisuto more than do harm, now that the risk of injury has sharply lessened. With social distancing measures in place, he probably would not continue to visit the Orange County Otters, but rather stay in touch with them over video call, on his large smart TV he placed directly in that personal gym. Unfortunately, it would also be out of the question for Kurisuto to visit home, as he is from Japan, where the virus outbreak has been much more widespread. That is okay though, as Kurisuto is a quiet man, and is already enjoying his extra time at home. Spending a few more weeks on his own probably would not be too detrimental.

If the NSFL cancelled its season I would become depressed. I would become so depressed that I wouldn't be able to play in the DSFL anymore. I'd retire forever and go hiding in an obscure place no one has heard about, kind of like Yellowknife. I'm sure me and my teammates would take our nickname "The fearsome foursome" to heart and start exploring each other. I would be so bored once the NSFL gets cancelled that I would resort to talking with Dermot. Gross, I know. The tough part is that my team, the Portland Pythons, is in Washington. If you haven't been living under a rock, you would know that New York, Washington and California have been the states hit the hardest by the novel virus. Social distancing is overrated anyways. I'm a millennial, so you know my dumb ass is already traveling everywhere, trying to spread the virus. I'm pretty sure I have it already. I also hooked up with this cute player named Net Gaines. I think he has it too now. Anyways now I'm going to every tourist trap I can afford, spreading my germs and buying up toilet paper. I take a lot of shits. I'm basically a show in for defensive back of the year, so that's nice. If they cancelled the DSFL & NSFL, I would for sure win it, so I wouldn't be all that mad.

I would find it hard to believe that we would cancel the season since we have been sweating and grunting feet from each other throughout the games already...

However, if we were to cancel this season I would play virtual TEGWAR with my teammates.

TEGWAR is an intense card game. TEGWAR stands for the exciting game without any rules. It can be played in many different styles, whether it be Western Canadian or Southeastern style as most people have played most of their lives.

Although there are no rules, there are certain moves that you can do. There’s the Red Rooster, the Banjo, the Coney Island Tatey, and the Double Ace Deucer.

This game is played in locker rooms all around the world, but in this day and age, we can play it online.

There is a bit of a learning curve, and if you’re not paying attention, somebody could hit you with a Butchered Hog when you least expect it.

With the coronavirus craze, everyone wants the world to play games inside, and we would be no different. This is the time for us to slow down and get to know each other, while also game planning for when the league resumes. If I could win a few games of TEGWAR in the process, all is right with the world.

Mario VonPebbles says social distancing can kiss his ass. I’m more worried about this awful rotting infection I caught on my peen. Ever since that Lithuanian prison stay this pesky infection won’t go away. The outermost 1/16th of my foreskin has already rotted off. There’s a voodoo witch doctor up here in Minnesota and I’m thinking about going to see them. That’s what I would do if the league shut down. It burns when I pee.

Thank goodness for the NSFL though, for real. With all other sports teams tits up, I got nothing going on. All my fantasy teams are DOA. My fantasy basketball team is lit! I got Kawhi and Vucevic and Christian Wood and Valincuinas and a couple other studs! The good news is I picked up Boogie Cousins. He could be back when the league returns! The crazy thing about my fantasy basketball team is, last year I had a fire sale for draft picks. I ended up with two first round picks and two second round picks. It’s a keeper league and we keep two keepers. The bad news was my keepers were John Wall and Boogie. So I ended up keeping Mitchell Robinson and Kevin Love instead. Even with those injuries I’m still 3rd in the league standings. This makes Mario happy! I love speaking about myself in 3rd person. Like Ricky Henderson!!

[Booger]

If the DSFL canceled its season, Im sure I'd have plenty to do. First of all, like my name implies, some ball fondlage would occur, behind closed doors of course. When this becomes mundane, I'd busy myself with the study of the Great One, legendary Booger McFarland. Monday Night Football would become my soundtrack to life, and I'd replay the heavenly sound of Booger's voice during whatever I do, from the shower to mid ball fondlage. Though we don't share the same position, I'd also be sure to watch tape and busy myself with dissecting the tactics and strategies used by Booger mid game.
As a family man, I'd make sure to keep in touch with my 8 siblings as well as my two parents, Hugh Janice and Candice Dik-fit-in-ur-mouth.
Of course in today's day and age, everything is possible through the internet, so I'd continue communicating with my teammates through friendly games of online Risk.
On a somewhat related note, I've been working on a football safe hazmat suit. It may not offer the full protection a set of pads does, but it offers full protection from the novel Corona virus. Approving the suit for use in games would be an arduous task, but for practice less regulations are present so I'm sure we could finagle a way to use the suit as a means through which to remain active during the pandemic.

If the NSFL suspended the season, I (Tree) think a bunch of chaos would go down with Kansas City. Personally, I’d use the opportunity to expand my cereal portfolio, try and find new cereals that I’ve never had before while updating my tier list. I’d consider working out but like, that’s a lot of effort and I don’t know if I really want to put that much work into it. My teammates would have a great time I think. Chika Fujiwara would probably take the opportunity to retreat into her self called “Cave of Isolation” (see also: basement) and binge anime and game film like there was no tomorrow. Chip Otle would take the time to order Chipotle to his house for every meal, breakfast lunch and dinner, and not stop eating until the cows come home. The rookies I imagine would try and stay in shape and workout most of the time, and there’s a term for that, we call them “suckers.” would not care too much about the lost season if we’re being honest. As someone who is not the most work driven, an opportunity to sleep 16 hours a day and just sit on my couch like a bum? Count me in. Although my partying would certainly be limited due to this “social distancing” stuff so I guess I’d have to just sleep 19 hours a day instead. Actually that sounds really good, can I do that instead of playing football and still get paid?

I'm sure we'd all be very disappointed if the NSFL decided to suspend the season. Thankfully, it's currently 2036 in-universe, and COVID-19 is long behind us. Unfortunately, some NSFL players - such as Tom Sofa of the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers - have contracted COVID-36. While DSFL weeks 1 and 2 were suspended as a result of Sofa's announcement that he'd tested positive for COVID-36, the DSFL has continued following this brief suspension.

If COVID-36 shuts down the NSFL then I'm sure, as one of the most positive places I've ever been in, that the Buccaneers locker room would find a way to stay positive and we'd continue to practice self-improvement. In the absence of in-person practice, I'm sure we'd find a way to practice at home while connected through voice and video chat to keep the team spirit up.

The offensive linemen would be making pancakes, as that's what they do on the field and I'm sure making edible pancakes works the same way. It'd also help them to keep their weight up so that they aren't prone to being pushed out of the way by scrawny, inferior defensive linemen upon the resumption of NSFL action.

The quarterbacks on the roster could practice throwing relatively easily. Tom Sofa and Chris Ramos can stand at one side of their respective apartments and throw furniture at targets placed on the opposite wall. Dinner plates, glass bottles, anything with a curved element to simulate a football.

Personally, I spend most of my time chasing after receivers that have run past me and caught the ball while I'm just minding my own business defending the flat in zone coverage. I'm sure I can practice that by just running from one side of the apartment and back, over and over.

If by any chance the NSFL had to be cancelled, Jay Cue could probably be game ready during that time. He knows the playbook by heart, i mean, it was designed to his abilities, so all he had to do was maintain in peak physical condition.

He lives in a big house, with a gigantic lawn, where he would train his arm every day. Even though all his offense should be at home to avoid contact, he can design the plays in his mind. Then, he would use is home gym, with all his personal trainers helping him using facetime. He can train every single muscle at home, so there would be no problems there.

One of the possible problems you might think of would be cooking, but Cue knows his way around a kitchen, so as long as he could order nice meat from the butchers or fresh vegetables from the market, he would be set up. Another problem could be boredom, as staying at home every single day can lead to it, but Cue loves watching film, to try and improve his game so, doing that plus having Netflix and HBO, he would remain occupied.

It would still completely suck to have at least one season scraped because of a virus, but you got to do what you got to do.
