Hey everyone, thank you for coming to my late season presser! I invited you all not because I need money desperately for more training sessions, because I totally do have stacks of cash, why shouldn't I as a well paid football player (nervous laugh), but because the mid-season is coming to an end and the final week of games before the playoffs is starting. It is time to take a look at how the season for my team and myself went so far and what the hopes are for this final week before playoffs begin.
Ask away!
Edit: thanks for all the questions so far. I'm gonna start answering them tomorrow at around 2-3 pm GMT+2
What was the best part about your season? Any Game(s) in particular?
Definitely week 2 when I was selected as player of the week! I was feeling a bit down after not getting any play time for last few games last season and after I narrowly missed out on winning the Ultimini with my team. In the game itself I was just feeling really good. Everything just worked and I was able to deliver one of the best performances of my career. That already made me feel great, but actually being selected as player of the week was something absolutely special. Highlight of my career so far.
How does your offseason look like?
Schnitzel schnitzel schnitzel and practice practice practice. Need to keep burn calories to eat more schnitzel. There's also a lot going on behind the scenes. Meeting with team managers and coaches about whether I'll move up to the NSFL or stay in the DSFL for another year. And also just enjoying my free time! During the season you're always quite busy, so it's important to enjoy the time off.
Who do you think will win the Ulti?
Although I want it to be my team obviously, I have to say that Tijuana looks mighty strong at the moment. If I had to bet, I'd pick them. Even though it pains me to admit this!
You had quite a few plays where you dragged some defenders over the field for severe yard after catch and touchdowns. What is your secret behind that technique, or is it just pure power?
I just imagine that there is a huge schnitzel buffet waiting in the endzone. That is what gives me strength and keeps me going! You should try it. You'll gain at least another 5 yards!
How did you like the season so far? Did you achieve your goals?
Absolutely! I'd have never imagined the season to go the way it did. Of course my team is in a tough spot regarding the Ultimini, but I am very pleased with my own performance. I just wanted to go out, play some games and support my team as best as I could and now I have the 5th most receiving yards, tied for 2nd most receiving TDs and one award for player of the week! I'm loving it!
How is your chemistry with your QB Reginald Covington III?
Reginald is the best! Love his passes. Honestly it feels like we instinctly know what the other intends to do and that is certainly one of the reasons for my performance this year. He's a great guy!
What has been the most challenging part of the season?
Certainly the games we lost. I really wanted a revenge for the lost Ultimini from last season and right now we're standing 4-6. It's not the team's fault, the DSFL is extremly volatile after all and everyone is doing the best they can. It's just tough to see the trophy getting farther away than coming closer. Season is not over yet though. There's still a chance and my team and I will do our best!
Any advice you’d give to rookie players creating now?
That's a good one! For me, the most difficult thing when first starting out was to stay motivated. And one thing that really helps with that is just making some friends here who are at least as motivated as you! So invite friends to join with you, get on Discord, talk to people. And don't beat yourself for losing some TPE here and there. A career is long and there's more than enough TPE to gain!
Pancakes or waffles?
In the past I'd have said pancakes but I converted to waffles! Has a better texture and more bite to it.
What do you think will be the hardest upcomnig game for your team?
Definitely the one against Tijuana! They look really strong and are probably the best contenders for the Ultimini this season. It's gonna be tough to beat them.
You have the 5th most receiving yards and the 2nd most tds in your league atm; How did you do it?
Lot's of protein from all the schnitzels I eat. As I've said earlier, imagining a schnitzel buffet in the endzone also helps. And of course my awesome QB Reginald.
What does the huddle with your team look like?
If you looked from above, it would be a nice circular shape with a 2-3m radius.
Do you have a special connection with your QB?
Absolutely! This season we just clicked and this has certainly impacted my performance this year very positively!
