Hey everyone, I’m back here again with a midseason interview with rookie Chicago Butchers safety Eric Richards (WildfireMicro). He’s having a hell of an inaugural season for the Butchers and it’s been exciting to watch. Without further ado, let’s get to the preguntas.
Question: In my opinion, you’ve been having a fantastic rookie year. Is your season going how you expected it to? Team-wise and individually.
Answer: Honestly I expected us to have a rebuilding year. We have a great group of guys who are gonna upgrade and improve, but we are going to need some time. At the very least most of our players are upgrading so that's always a great sign.
That’s how most of us expected the year to go, I think. We have been among the top teams in the league in number of players updated each week, which is a great sign. Hopefully we’ll be ready to win sooner rather than later!
Question: You switched from linebacker to safety this season. Has that presented any challenges? Are you enjoying the switch?
Answer: Honestly I am liking the change despite the loss of tackle production. I am making big plays and already have two interceptions on the year. I expect to be more involved as I upgrade and improve.
It seems like every time we watch a game you’re making a play. Whether it’s a touchdown saving tackle or an interception, you’re always flying around the field. You’re one of the most exciting players to watch on the field, along with fellow rookie Hingle McCringleberry.
Question: According to Twitter, Eric Richards's wife Clair is pregnant. Are you excited? Nervous? When is it due?
Answer: Eric is both nervous and excited, and it will be a boy named Noah William Richards. He will be due by the start of next season, and Eric can't wait to meet him. He is going to be such a lucky kid with his dad being a football player.
I’m sure that Eric is going to be an amazing dad! Noah will have an exciting life, I’m sure, with his dad being an NSFL superstar.
Question: Do you think Eric's child will follow in his/her father's footsteps and become an NSFL player?
Answer: Maybe, though not for my next recreate as I have other plans for that at the moment.
I just learned of your next recreate idea recently and I think it will be a good one! Noah William Richards will definitely have the genetics to follow in your footsteps. I’m sure if he decides to pursue a professional football career that he will have no problems with it.
Question: What do you think Chicago should try to do to make the jump to playoff contention next season?
Answer: It all depends on how the team looks at that moment, especially with any free agents coming in for the offense. We just need to keep grinding and it will all fall into place, just need some patience.
I feel the same way. I think that even if we didn’t make too many changes, we would end up being a top team soon enough anyway. We have so many active players, and so many max or near max earners. Our team is awesome.
Question: If you could choose one player to join Chicago from anywhere in the league (retired or active), in their prime, who would it be and why? (notamper)
Answer: I'd say Ty Hood (I can't spell his name) because he is a great person to be around and would be a great wide receiver to help our offense which is inconsistent at best sometimes
My boy, Tychondrius Hood! That’s a fantastic choice. Tylus is one of the best guys I’ve met in the league and is a friend of mine. We had a great time together in our time with the Minnesota Grey Ducks. Even if we did want to tamper, I don’t think it would do too much good. He’s loving his time over there in Grey Ducks West, the San Jose Sabercats.
Question: If you could change one thing about the league, what would it be and why?
Answer: Not exactly sure to be quite honest with you, haven't really thought about that
Yeah it is a tough question. I’ve been asked this question before and I struggled to come up with anything, so I don’t blame you.
Question: What is your favorite food/drink/snack that most people would probably think is gross?
Answer: Not sure about this one either, but I like to put bacon bits on frozen pizza, so maybe that counts.
That is a little bit unique, but I don’t think it’s too weird or gross! Maybe on certain pizzas it’s a little weirder than others. I enjoy a good chicken bacon garlic parmesan pizza from Dominos every once in a while. I’m sure there’s something gross that you eat or drink, but it’s normal to you so you don’t even think about it hahah.
Eric, it was a pleasure as always. Thanks for doing this interview with me. I hope we can keep improving together and maybe turn some heads as this season comes to a close! Have a good one brother.
