At the halfway point through season 24, there is one award which with recent rule changes was deemed to be up for grabs early on - that is gradually finding a leader emerging and pulling away from the pack. That award is the S24 Tight end of the year - the last two consecutive seasons Heath Evans has been nominated for this award, but not considered a genuine or threatening candidate due to other players being so far ahead. This season however - Evans is leading the league in catches and on pace for a 100 catch, 1000 yard season with a few more touchdowns potentially in the pipeline. If he manages to break 100 catches that would give him the all time team catch record in a season with the Arizona Outlaws.
While it's not unheard of for a tight end to have a season like this, Evans has managed to do so while playing only as a tight end and flanker - and has not spent a single snap all season playing lined up as a wide receiver. For comparisons sake the next closest tight end eligible for the award has 200 less receiving yards and 21 less catches (but the same amount of touchdowns, to his credit).
Bruce Buckley should absolutely be a major player in the race for Offensive Lineman of the Year for season twenty four in the International Simulation Football League. Let’s have a closer look at each of his competitors and why Bruce Buckley should beat them for the Offensive Lineman of the Year award.
Lazlo Forty-Two: Lazlo has 69 pancakes on the season which is 12 above Bruce Buckley at the moment, but has not allowed a sack which has unfortunately happened to Bruce Buckley in his week 8 game against the Philadelphia Liberty. However, Lazlo seems to have left his interest in the league and will be ineligible for the award, his retirement at the end of the year will be a big moment for Offensive Lineman.
Guvussafarre Rubbe: Rubbe has 64 pancakes and is 7 above Bruce Buckley. He also hasn’t given up a sack which puts him above Buckley in the award race.
Byron Dolls: Buckley’s biggest S22 rival Byron Dolls has 56 pancakes which is 1 below Buckley but he has also given up a sack. Buckley is ahead of him at this time.
Doug Quail: Quail has 44 pancakes and 0 sacks allowed meaning it may be a toss up if he was to beat Bruce Buckley or not.
This year for the San Jose Sabercats in season twenty four has been full of ups and downs, but there have been a few consistencies for this team, Deondre Thomas-Fox being one of the most consistent and brightest spots for the team. Thomas-Fox has been a great receiver for the young Sabercat team for the past few seasons, but this year he has proved why he is one of the best in the game so far this season. The seventh year veteran has crashed through the scene this year, tied for first in yards with nine hundred and sixteen receiving yards, he has been an explosive force for San Jose nearly every game this season so far. Having nineteen and a half yards per catch with forty-seven receptions, he is far and away the most productive receiver and shows it nearly every time he gets the ball in his hands. With these stats alone in mind, Deondre Thomas-Fox is my choice for Wide Receiver of the Year. Keeping in mind his young offense surrounding him, Thomas-Fox in my eyes has done much more for his team relatively than any other receiver in the league this season, and single-handedly has carried the team through some tough wins. An absolute monstrosity for the Sabercats, if his production keeps going at this pace, should be a shoe in for the illustrious award.
As we are nearing the conclusion of the season, it is clear to see some of the front runners for the awards start to pull away from the rest of the pack. The Sabercats team has a few potential players that are eligible and deserving of the nod for the awards. The first of which is Deondre Thomas-Fox, who I believe could win a few awards that include Breakout Player of the Year and Wide Receiver of the Year. DTF after the 10th game of the season has 1000 yards, 4 touchdowns, and the highest average yards per catch, which all point to at least being considered for break out of the year as he has been less than impressive through the earlier part of his career. Another player that deserves recognition for an award includes Phillip Stein, who I believe is easily a contender for both Rookie of the Year and Performance of the Year. Phillip Stein is tied for the lead in interceptions and also has a good number of pass defenses, which should give him the nod for Rookie of the year. He also easily deserves Performance of the year has he propelled the Sabercats to a win with his 3 interceptions that all occurred in 3 consecutive drives in the third quarter to snuff out the floundering Hawks.
