Player Progression team, I would like to present my opening arguments for the controversial case that Jayce Tuck should be in the Hall of Fame. While the user behind Tuck may be one of the users the league wishes to forget existed, this is not the user Hall of Fame. We have a separate process for the great users and the Hall should be for great players, which Tuck certainly was. There are claims of TPE manipulation considering his sensitive position in the league, but this is opening statement is based on facts rather than one on probabilities.
Jayce Tuck has 5 Ultimus championships, 2 MVPs, 2 DPotY, holds the annual sack record and is number 4 on the all-time sack list. Any one of these accomplishments would put him as at least a candidate for the Hall. 5 Ultimus Championships is an achievement that may never be matched again in the league. Only 4 other players have multiple MVPs in the league and all of them are either in the hall or locks when they become eligible. Franklin Armstrong will be in the Hall as soon as possible as one of the GOATs in the league’s history. However, he trades off 1 more MVP for 2 Ultimus wins for Tuck. If his numbers compare to one of the greatest in the league, and he is undoubtedly one of the best DL players of all time, how has he not made the hall? ![]()
Case for a new SIM engine, or a new way of managing how we use the current one. I will be relying of two main evidence points. Both relating to how speed is used in the SIM.
The first is the "qb speed at 79 bug". This is a incredibly silly bug to have to live with, as it basically destroys one of the qb archetypes, and means that other archetypes have significant advantage. The second evidential element is how speed is hyper dominant as a trait and how it plays out in the SIM. How many rookies do we all tell, get your speed up first. Evidencing this is the following of average stats (across ALL players including IA). As can be seen speed is a full 10 points clear of any other stat, excluding Endurance. Stat Average Str 60.89459085 Agi 63.18030513 Spd 75.20110957 Int 57.16504854 End 70.12343967 Hnd 49.17337032 Tck 42.14147018 These factors basically just amount to a SIM gaming experience that is over dominated by a single stat, presumably because having fast players means that teams play better in the current SIM. Switching sims MIGHT help. but probably the bigger factor in addressing this is recognising that the SIM values speed more than other stats and then either changing the cost of speed investment to be more expensive when compared to other stats (say 1.5x). OR rebuild the archetypes so that speed is seen as a premium stat, and change what maximums the high speed builds can actually achieve. For example, dramatically lower the maximum hands skill for speedy wide receivers. this would mean that there is more variance around exploiting speed in the SIM, while also valuing other archetypes and player types in the sim. Maybe the possession receiver with has 20 more maximum than the speedy in hands.
The league needs to update to DDSPF21. It's been a hot topic for a long time and the arguments are all still valid. Still, I think the idea needs to be revisited. While 2021 offers a lot of new content on it's own, we are years of updates behind now. There are a plethora of new features available that would really spice things up for the league. One of the newer features mentioned are social types and player personas. For a lot of us, our players don't have crazy personalities but for others that could be big. It would be interesting to see if player personalities actually had to balanced in the sim as much as they do in the locker room. This could be a giant headache for GMs, but at the same time I think it offers more positives than negatives. If that doesn't intrigue some, maybe the more customizable playbook would. There are a ton of new options including various forms of pre-snap motion. You can even customize who does it and on what formations. This would be another thing that would really open up the creative juices for the league again. I feel like we are at the point where everyone pretty much has the same knowledge of the sim, with random little exceptions that are borderline sim-breaking at times. It would be cool to see some new things thrown in. If you still are convinced, maybe an improved penalty and 4th down AI would be the final nudge. I think we've all been through games where our team lost for punting on 4th and 2 on the opponent's 35 yard line. Updated AI is always a plus in my book.
The league needs to invest more time in the DSFL. It has some of the best locker rooms in the league and gets the pleasure of sitting on it's ass with 2/3 games a week while the ISFL gets 4. It's crazy. I remember it feeling extremely long between games when playing for Tijuana and it was infuriating. If you're goal is to maintain player retention, having a more constant involvement with the players would help a lot. Perhaps including a nice wee buffer game of some type. Or instead of playing double headers, having games streamed after ISFL so it's less spaced out.
Perhaps what should be done is include some type of other involvement from DSFL members as well, like adding more games to match the ISFL. OR even expanding into 2 more teams (although I don't know what this fixes I just want more DSFL focus). The biggest turn off while I was in the DSFL was having to wait what felt like an entire week before being able to see my player do anything. It was frustrating. I was mad. I was sad. That's my evidence for my argument. I still love xo HO but that was something I despised in my tenure with TIJ. ![]() ![]() America South America - K/P - Player Page Tijuana Luchadores --Retired-- Alfonso Dos Santos - K/P - Player Page l Update Page New Orleans Second Line - Bondi Beach Buccaneers Brock Bodenhamer - WR - Player Page l Update Page New Orleans Second Line - Myrtle Beach Buccaneers Bona'beri Jones - WR - Player Page l Update Page New Orleans Second Line - Portland Pythons Noah Goodson - LB - Player Page l Updates New Orleans Second Line-Yellowknife Wraiths-Baltimore Hawks-Arizona Outlaws-Portland Pythons |
