(S26) - PT 2 - You Sit on a Throne of Lies

The Kansas City Coyotes' 0-4 start, including two games where they were blown out by teams they were large favorites over, hasn't exactly done much to quiet all the hot takes - Peterson isn't the right QB for this time, Kendrick-Watts doesn't have the speed to succeed in the DSFL, Creed will fall apart when asked to be the lead back, we should have drafted more defensive players. And to be honest, some of them are fairly accurate: Peterson sucks lmap, and the young (read: full of bots) defense crumpled in a blowout loss to a Tijuana team playing a running back at the QB position (one which is normally quite difficult to succeed at in the little leagues, but made easy by Kansas City's porous defense). However, some of them could not have been more wrong - maybe Eleven Kendrick-Watts, who lead the league in receiving yards through weeks, is actually the greatest offensive player to grace a DSFL football field, or perhaps Xander Creed, who has already torn up the league in his first few games, will challenge Sam Torenson for the award of greatest RB of all time. Hey, Coyotes fans need something to look forward to while they support literally the worst DSFL squad of all time.

This season the Orange County Otters seem destined for a great season. With several wins under their belt and a big haul of impact free agents joining the team over the offseason there is a sense of invigoration in the locker room. There are many players that are standing out on this stacked team, but today I'm going to talk about just two of them.

First off the ranks we have yours truly, Heath Evans. Evans had an outstanding start to his season and picked up right where he left off with the Arizona Outlaws as a leading candidate for TEOTY. While he currently has the most yards of any tight end, rumour has it he's hoping to see even more targets as the season progresses.

The other standout players I want to speak about briefly is Garfield Despacito. "Who?" You may ask, and to that I would reply "the S26 MVP... Or at least BPOTY". Despacito Jr. is the son of minor league offensive lineman Garfield Despacito Sr, but this season he has made a name for himself as a red zone receiver, bringing in 8 touchdowns on only 22 catches, good for a TD rate of 36.7%. It's clear from his statistics that Despacito Jr. has found his niche in this premier offence.

The season is coming along nicely for my player. I always knew seaosn 3 would be where I really started to shine anyway. But ho ho ho holy shit our defense is STRONK. The Director is putting together a masterpiece performance that should see actual DPOY consideration right now. And our D is fucking lethal. Sacks, ints, fumbles, PDs, scoring, all of it. And its not like we're doing it against scrubs. We don't have the luxury of facing an entire conference that cant find the endzone with two flashlights and a map. We've played against 3 of the top 4 offenses. The Medicinal Rangers own the trenches and the Legion of Doot controls the skies. Here's my hot take. The ASFC runs through Nola, unlike your COMPLETELY AND TOTALLY BIASED PT filler claims. We have the best defense in the league (and just wait til NEXT season) and our offense is also part of the team. 

Hey...everyone can see it....the offense is the lagging part of the team. But every week we get better. last season we almost didn't exist. This season we're hit and miss but we're starting to hit more and more frequently. And every hungry young player on our "oldest team in the league" is ready to step in or step up. Except Scorp. Hide your beers. Hide your dogs. Hide your delicious foods. Becuase we're comin'. And before you know it we're in your stadium in your face picking off your QB and you're just sitting there dooting yourself.

Bruce Buckley’s Hot Take List:

1 – The Yellowknife Wraiths are one of the best teams in Football. The Wraiths are a well rounded team with veterans like Quaid, Virtanen and Alexander leading the way for players in their prime like Colby Jack, Bruce Buckley and Johnny Hellzapoppin. Finally, there are up and comers such as McjImmerson, Sakura and Naught coming through. The Wraiths have talent all throughout their roster and are ready to contend.

2 – Bruce Buckley is well on his way to the Hall of Fame. Currently Bruce Buckley is a 4x Pro Bowler and the winner of Offensive Lineman of the Year Award in S24. If the season was to finish today Buckley would likely add another Pro Bowl and Offensive Lineman of the Year Award to that list bringing him very close to HOF numbers multiple seasons before he even hits regression and the peak of his career.

3 – Dallas is a stain on the DSFL. From their origins to today, they have added nothing but toxicity and unnecessary drama to the league. Anything that touch turns toxic as well, which is proved by Austin and Honolulu.

4 – The talking up of the Hahalua, Fire Salamanders and Hawks in the pre-season has proven to be complete false. Anyone that made that claim deserves their twitter, discord or forum permissions revoked.

As a member of the Sarasota Sailfish, the first seven weeks of the season have been incredible. After a lackluster start on the road against the Colorado Yeti, the Sailfish ripped off five straight wins with three of them coming on the road. Yellowknife was able end the Sarasota win streak in week 7, knocking the Sailfish down the 2nd in the conference, but they are still in much better shape than many were projecting before the season started. The general consensus seemed to be that the Sailfish would have a down season while rookie QB Mike Boss Jr. gets acquainted with the new offense and the speed of the ISFL, resulting in Sarasota falling short of the playoffs for the first time in 3 seasons. Fast forward to week 7, and the outlook for the remainder of the season couldn’t be further from those predictions. The offense hasn’t missed a beat with Boss Jr. at the helm. In fact, Boss Jr. has positioned himself at the top of the league in passing yards and is arguably performing better than any other QB in the league. The Sailfish are a strong team, but if the running game can build some momentum and the defense can tighten up a bit, they could find themselves atop the conference and poised to compete for the Ultimus at the end of the season.

My player is at his peak, I am telling you now.. second season in and you would find it hard to find another linebacker like myself. First week I forced a fumble, recovered a different fumble and picked off a pass at the goalline. If that isn't the sign of a future star in the ISFL I don't know what is. I am tackling at a ISFL level and don't see that settling down. Unfortunately I am capped in the DSFL and so I won't be getting better anytime soon, however I am good and hopefully I will be recognised for that in the pro bowl for the DSFL this year. So far I am leading the team in tackles and the league in tackles also, I am in the top 10 for passes deflected despite being a linebacker and tied for fourth for interceptions. It is nice to be able to hype yourself up and actually have reasonable stats to back it up. I am going to be in the DSFL for the next season or so and it is good to know that I will be able to dominate and have a good time. I do know I need to get to the QB more and get some sacks, that was my goal of the season and I am failing at that so far, but the season is young and so am I!
