The New Year is fast approaching along with a flashy new sim, a wave of re-creates, and a potentially larger draft class overall. What do you think 2021 is going to look like for the league? Do you think the new sim will dramatically impact player/team performance? Are there any specific players or teams you think will stand out from the rest in the coming months?
I am incredibly excited about the new sim. I believe it will improve the "football" feel for both players and teams alike. First, player agency is increased dramatically for build decisions. The new archetypes have been balanced very well. This means that players will have more options when deciding how to build their player with more viable archetypes. Gone are the days where one must follow the meta or pay the consequences. I hope this will encourage users to build their players the way they want. In addition to archetype variety, we also have build variety. With goofy things such as 79 speed QBs eliminated, the lack of sim testing with the new sim means players can build players in a variety of ways without feeling to need to hit arbitrary attribute cliffs. The addition of traits means that users will have to choose between traits and adding to different attributes when building their players, resulting in a variety of builds within the archetypes.
I also hope this new sim will create more separation between the best teams and the average teams. Because players now have more things to spend TPE on, the highest TPE users will now be better than the average user. This means teams with lots of high TPE players should separate from the pack.
Finally, more variety of viable formations, roster constructions, and strategies means more football strategy and less sim testing! Down with sim testing!
