After Week 10 in the DSFL, my non-biased awards for each position go to:
QB: LeBron James III
Heads and shoulders above the rest of the competition with 2811yds, 14TDs, and a 97.1 passer rating, no other QB really holds a candle to James at the moment.
RB: Sirdsvaldis Miglaskems
1050 rushing yds, 15 rushing TDs (!), and only 1 fumble over 252 carries, and a receiving TD to boot. These aren't just RBotY numbers. These are MVP numbers. Dallas spots themselves 10 pts a game just by having this guy on their roster.
WR: Quavious McGrady
McGrady might be in the lead stats-wise, but it isn't by much, with 71 receptions, 995 yards, and 7 TDs.
Chunt The Badger is on his tail with 73 receptions, 954 yards, and 6 TDs.
It will be a close race to see who ends up as WRotY.
TE: Borgo San Lorenzo
Lorenzo is the runaway favorite with 50 receptions, 467 yards, and 2 TDs, almost 150 yards and 11 receptions over 2nd place.
OL: Maiteers Rico-Shea
Sure, he might not be leading the pack in pancakes, but he is the highest one with 0 sacks allowed, which is much more valuable to an offense. Just ask any QB.
Shoutout: Cheese Farley leads the pack with 51 pancakes, enough breakfast to feed the whole block!
DT: Primo Berto & Prof. Godfrey Gravity
Primo Berto is 2nd in the league with 11 sacks and 18 tackles. Prof. Godfrey Gravity is leading all DL with 55 tackles and 4 sacks. It's hard to say who deserves it more at this stage without fully analyzing every game, but sacks tend to be a drive killer, and his team's record seems to reflect that, so Primo comes out on top.
DE: Bean Beanman
Beanman is having a season for the ages with 52 tackles and 12 sacks. I don't know why teams are even bothering running to his side, and passing without some chip blocks from your TE/RB just sounds like offensive drive suicide.
LB: Devonte Crook
An absolute masterclass performance being put on by Devonte Crook. Crook's 83 tackles only trails the league leader by 2, but manages to put up 17 TFLs (!), 2 sacks, 1 interception, 7 pass deflections, while also forcing and recovering a fumble. Really showing what an all-around LB he is.
CB: Buck Nekkid & Juno Hu
Both CBs are leading the league with 4 interceptions each, and each have taken one to the house. Did I mention that these two are both on the same team? How is there even enough to go around?
The duo are putting a stopping to both sides of the field, combining for 92 tackles, 3 forced fumbles, 34 pass deflections. While Buck Nekkid leads in tackles, forced fumbles, and pass deflections, Juno Hu has the lower catch rate at 49%.
S: Tim Soulja
It's been a tough year on safeties, but with 49 tackles, 3 sacks, 2 interceptions, and 3 pass deflections, Soulja is displaying versatility and all-aroundness. Someone worth keeping an eye on on any given play.
Shoutout: Lux Opal. Only a single other safety has posted a TFL (Johnathan Shuffleboard) but Opal leads all safeties with 6, showing a real knack for locating the football before ballcarriers even get a chance to get going.
K: Gluteus Maximus
Leading the league with 79 points, the mad lad has been sent out 9 times on 50+ yard FGs and made 5 of them, while also posting 12 of 13 from the 30-39 range.
Shoutout: Bot Bilbo miraculously able to make all of his extra points. I say miraculously because the man posts a 50% FG rate, a full 11.1% below the next lowest. If there was an award for worst kicker in the league, Bilbo would certainly be a lock.
P: Gluteus Maximus
Large Gluty takes both kicking trophies, leading the league in both punts inside the 20 (29) and an 43.6 average.
Shoutout: Just like Gluteal Max, Bilbo manages to take both [worst] kicking trophies, posting 80 punts with the league's lowest average at 37.4. This guy must have some dirt on the organization if he's still on the team next year.
Uhhh awards. I hate awards. I hate talking about awards. Everyone will make a ridiculous argument or invent a new stat to push their teammate more often than not. But let's be realistic here. Awards should take team results into account. Like, how much does a player's production affect their team's overall success. Or how a player is managing to keep their team afloat and close to contention. Take Ben Slothlisberger for example. Sloth is playing under center for NOLA. He is the MVP right now. NOLA would be a dumpster fire without him. Best passing offence, worst rushing offence in the league, 5-6 record after 11 weeks. On top of that, Sloth has the second highest passer rating, with 102.3, only behind O'Donnell's 102.4, despite having more completions, attempts, yards, touchdowns, and less interceptions thrown. Another quarterback I'd put in the same discussion is Charlemagne Cortez, playing under center for the 9-2 Arizona Outlaws. I could also throw Colby Jack and Mike Boss Jr., and even Matthaias Caliban in the mix, but in my eyes, Sloth's TD-to-INT ratio of 5.75:1, and the fact that NOLA would be AWFUL without him, is enough to name him the league's MVP. I'd really want to wait till the season is over though. The MVP race this season may be closer than it looks.
I get that talking about yourself is obvious and being unconventional with your answer is pretty obvious but I'm going to pitch myself. I'm also going to pitch myself for a new award. A lot of players don't play at their position for roster reasons or callup reasons. I'm the 4th string Linebacker for the butchers and so i'm being played at a few positions that isn't the SLB that I'm speced for. I think that players like me should have something to look forward to that know that they're not going to win a conventional award. This award isn't without president as the national basketbnall association has an award just like this In the NBA its called the 6th man and for the ISFL it would be called the Bench Players of The Year or BPoTY. This would go to a player that is listed a rank below the starting roster for a team. this would be the third Saftey the third DE or DT the 4th CB 4th WR third RB maybe. It wouldn't need to be that hard to select edge cases as you could take the positional rankings for each team and then select the third or fourth best player on that team. A crossover award would be something different for awards as well. Currently the only awards given that include offence and defence are ones that almost always go to Offensive players. I feel like It would be a lot more chaotic and a lot better conversation to praise a player whos a great depth piece for a franchise. Now do I think that I would be the winner of this award? No but that realy would require a lot of work that I think would go into a good media peice (that I really might do for a good media bonus hint hint).
