I think offense of player of the year in the DSFL or possibly even MVP could go to LBJ the third . He’s been absolutely killing it lately it needs league and QBR passing yards and just about every major quarterbacks that the states incredible is the heart and soul of the Portland office and he’s surrounded by so many incredible pieces big shout out to his kicker Kate York for being you know not the worst kicker in the league but by far not the best I thought I would kick her of the year I’ll be shocked if I do not even sure if that’s an award but if it is vote me please I will love you forever and there’s nothing more important then having me love you forever. The seasons been interesting lots of ups and downs for the pythons in general but still I think it should be enough to get LeBron James the third and MVP and I’d love to see it happen. Whenever you lead the league in passing yards passing touchdowns completion percentage and QBR you’re obviously doing something right if I don’t win quarterback of the year I’ll be shocked again not really sure if that’s an award I really hope it is or else I’ll sound super dumb rn lol but if it his it’s definitely gonna be him if he can keep it up
Holy smokes Colt Mendoza is finally good. I've waited like six (?) seasons for this. He sucked in the DSFL, he was fairly neutral in his first few seasons in the ISFL, but for some godforsaken reason he's now like broken out and is one of the top corners in the league. I have no earthly idea whether its because of the new sim or because he got a change of scenery or what but he's got a legitimate shot at corner of the year. Andrew Witten and Desmond Scarlett are also probably in that conversation. Witten's tied with Mendoza in picks but has a handful less PDs. He makes up for that with more forced fumbles and tackles, however. All going to depend on what the voters prioritize there - assume the gaps in the stats stay the same. Scarlett leads the league with some ridiculous amount of PDs and has a handful more tackles but is fairly far behind in interceptions - I think he's three behind Mendoza and Witten. Again, it should all depend on what voters prioritize assuming the gap stays like it is. Historically a 3 interception gap should make up for a 5-8 PD gap but you never know. I typically don't weight tackles particularly highly when I'm voting for corners. Like they're cool but there is an argument that it just means you gave up more catches and had to tackle the guy instead of forcing an incompletion.
Halfway through the first DDSPF 21 season and some award races are already decided and others are going to go down to the very last week. For QB of the year, it's a two horse race between Colby Jack and Ben Sloethiberger. No other quarterbacks has the efficiency and volume combination these two have so far. But at this point, Jack would get the nod because he's elevating all of his teammates despite playing with a few semi-active players on offense.
Guys like Charlemagne Cortez and George O'Donnell will lose votes because of how potent their rushing attacks are. Both Baby Yoda and Tastu Nakumara are at the forefront of the RBoTY race. It's no coincide that the 3 best teams have the three best running backs(Sarasota and Rapthalia Chan are also in this conversation) and those respective backs are having phenomenal seasons. I'd like to applaud Yoda for not having a single fumble yet, but at this point, Nakumara is putting up some gaudy numbers(5.5 YARDS PER CARRY!!!) and should cruise to this award. Chan could bolster her case with some more receiving numbers but Sarasota's deep receiver core likely won't allow it.
Speaking of receiving, the WRoTY year race will be so tight. Although William Lim as the lead in yards, Ty Hood has only 2 drops(to Lim's 5) on the season on similar volume and has 3 more TD's. There's still outside threats from Taro Raimon(no special teams), Jackson Kingston(only 3 TD's), and None Videl-San(lower catch rate).
I left Ed Barker off because he likely will get overshadowed by his teammate, Austin McCormick, who is leading the pack for the Tight End of the Year award along with James Angler. The two once again put up the raw numbers to overshadow everyone else, however Zee Rechs and Rangor Krashwagen have darkhorse opportunities to land the upset if their respective teams can finish high in the standings as both have been critical to their respective offenses.
I'm not doing defense cause I need my player to get his stats up again, but I'll sign off with this: Sam Sidekick is the only kicker that hasnt missed and I believe Silver Banana leads in coffin corners. ad Net Average per punt.
I think it goes without saying that this season's breakout star is Chunt The Badger. Standing tall among the DSFL receiver index, Chunt is one of the top rookies in the league. He is definitely going to be nominated for Offensive Rookie Of The Year, Wide Receiver Of The Year, and Most Valuable Player. Those awards are without question ones your favorite badger will be nominated for. However, Chunt is different. Chunt is amazing. He has led the Dallas Birddogs to have the best record both in the DSFL and in Dallas history, that being 9-1. Further, Chunt has a total of 954 yards and 6 touchdowns, making him second overall within the minor leagues. It is with that being said, and I understand this may be radical for some of you but if you payed attention to Chunt’s mock draft this will come as no surprise, Chunt should be nominated and win all of the awards (yes, that includes the defensive ones as well.) Any team could have had Chunt The Badger but only Dallas was able to obtain him. Now I’m not implying Chunt is the only reason Dallas is doing well, but without Chunt, it is questionable to think they would have the record they do. All hail the badger. All hail Chunt.
Following Week 11, I think it is safe to say that Clark Boyd is out of contention for a Tight End of the Year nominee. Oh well. I guess that's what being 10th in receiving yards gets you. Nowhere. Granted, he's still tied for 1st among tight ends on pancakes, but that won't swing him into the top 4 or 5. Maybe next year.
I think the winner this year will wind up being none other than Austin McCormick of the New Orleans Second Line. He leads TEs for receiving yards, and has a better average than the rest of the top 10. He might not be dominant on the offensive line, but that shouldn't stop him from running away with the award if he keeps his production this high.
Fellow Fire Salamander Joseph Petrongolo could, in my opinion, swing a nomination for Running Back of the Year. He's currently 7th in terms of rushing yards, but beats out 3 backs ahead of him in revceiving yards. With total yardage brought into account, he could place in the top 5, and earn himself a nomination. It would be well deserved, considering he's scored all 7 of Berlin's rushing TDs and account for more than 700 of our total 820 rushing yards.
Though our defense has been the reason for our few successes, I don't think that any individual players are statistically successful enough from our squad to win any positional awards. Unfortunate, but likely the case. The same can be said for Nick Kaepercolin, the QB doing his damnedest despite the sim hating on the team. He's currently the only quarterback with a completion percentage under 60, but still sits in the top half of quarterbacks by passing yards and has throw the 3rd least interceptions. In fact, he has the 2nd-highest pass attempts. I would argue that Kaepercolin would be considered elite, if only his receivers (myself included) weren't holding him back.
Being on the Butchers, it is only fair that I choose a Butcher to win an award, and be completely biased about it. I believe that Osiris Firestorm-Fjord really has a chance at cornerback of the year award. Osiris has been on the Butchers since S21, and was a part of the infamous 1-13 squad as well. He is the face of Chicago's defense, and has been a solid cornerback for his entire career. Coming into this season, he was always near the top of the pack in cornerback stats, but this season he is at the top with only two corners with more interceptions than him. The impact of his turnovers is what really gives him my vote for the award though, it seems like whenever the opponent is driving on an important drive, Osiris comes up with a massive interception or forced fumble. In one of the most recent games we had on the road against the Yeti, the Yeti were starting to drive down the field to attempt to tie up the game with under 5 minutes to play, before Caliban threw an ill advised ball straight into the hands of Osiris. Winning that game on the road against a division rival was a huge boost not only to our record and playoff claim, but to the team in general, and it is all thanks to our number one corner for the last 6 seasons.
