The New York Silverbacks were asked by Iceland to come lead a workshop to get them further versed in American Football. Due to Icelands history of practicing in strongman competitions, the Silverbacks decide to send a large strong man to show them how the game of Football is a great option for men of their caliber. 

None other than Brick Van Sanzo was chosen to go because of his strength and size, it would be easy to relate to how those translate to the game of Football. 

When Brick was sent off to Iceland he wanted to make sure that all of the strongman athletes had a chance to see what they could do to translate that strength into Football technique, Running hand and Tackling drills. Since Brick is a DE he is also quite versed in what works in Offensive lineman when they go against him and since Iceland has no shortage of tall guys that seemed like a great position to get into as well so he also taught them some of the things that he has to watch out for in Lineman. Also he mentioned the techniques he uses to stay in such great shape while eating tons of calories. Overall it went extremely wonderful and Brick believes it was absolutely worthwhile.

With the growth of the game of football across the world, some countries keep calling your team to go there for a workshop, to help them be better at the game. Your team decides to send someone in the offseason to travel there. With the offseason now over, who was picked from your team to travel? What country did they end up travelling to? What did they do when they reached there to help direct a workshop?


As the only team in Canada, we are pretty popular with other countries without a single football team in them. As such, we get a lot of northern based countries and fans wanting us to show up and let them see what it is like. One specific country has shown a lot of interest in maybe ending up with a team at some point in the future, and who is that country? If you guessed Iceland, you would be correct! the great country of Iceland is already a tourist popular place, now imagine if they had a football team there as well. So, we decide to send one of our newish guys over there to check it out and run a little receivers workshop. So Mark Walker gets the nod as the number two receiver for a few seasons and two Ultimus championships on his resume as well. Once there, he had to of course get shown around the city of Reykjavik, the capital, to see where he would be staying and of course where the workshop would be. Of course they are putting him up in a baller hotel, the Hotel Borg by Keahotels, if you are ever in the area, I suggest you check it out! Part of the reason this was chosen was for it's close proximity to the Laugardalsvöllur, which is where the actual workshop will take place. There ended up being hundreds of kids and athletes that attended the workshop to get a better idea of what ISFL football is really about. In the end, it was a success and hopefully will at least get more Icelandic players to try out for the ISFL.

If it would to come to this i would nominate myself and hopefully my team would also nominate me as well. I would go to mexico and Central American countries since DeCarr Reks Dad(Ismael Sanchez) has family over their and has been to mexico a few times. I know the landscape of the country so i would know what cities to attend and which ones to avoid. So essentially i arrived their and went to the cities that i knew would be interested in the game of football. First off i would host a small camp with a few other teammates teaching kids and young adults the basics and rules if football. After teaching them we will host a small 7 on 7 tournament for the kids and teenagers and see who rains on top. We will go city to city doing all of this and teaching as much football as we can so the popularity of the sport can increase and hopefully more out of USA teams will emerge from the support of their people. After me and some teammates return we wait to see how our camp encourages cities to try and get a team when expansion begins.

In 2010, Mérida, Yucatan, Mexico became a sister city of Sarasota, Florida, United States [1]. And it wasn’t long after the regular cultural exchanges began that Sarasota’s love of football, particularly support of their hometown Sailfish, spread to the state capital on the Mexican peninsula. With the growing Spanish speaking audience both domestically and now internationally, in 2025 the Sailfish began to broadcast their home games with both Spanish and English language commentary a few years later. Even more recently, support coaching staff and a few developmental players have traveled to Mexico for fan events and to help set-up an American football club for local youth. With the club now in its third year of operation, the Sailfish franchise was asked to send a starting team member during the offseason to hold a workshop to help train local coaches at the club. 

Now this was a highly sought after assignment among the Sailfish players. The Yucatan was a wonderful spot to relax after another hard-fought season and sample unique cuisine, known for its earthy and smoky flavors. However, there were only a few players that could fully embrace the experience without the help on an interpreter. So it was no surprise when the franchise selected Cuco Clemente - Safety of the Year - to represent the team. Having been born and raised in Santiago, Dominican Republic, Cuco was a fluent Spanish speaker and a veteran player who could explain playbooks inside and out. Cuco also knew how to make a week long coaching workshop fun, helping to design new drills like tying a length of traditional hammock rope to the wastes of defensive players in coverage and offensive players running routes so that they could feel the push and pull of space between them as they tried to get the better position. This proved to be a favorite among players and coaches alike.

The Arizona Outlaws were contacted by representatives of the government of North Korea, as they were looking to develop a Korean Football league. Korean Football, as it was explained to the Outlaws, was a remarkably similar game to American Football, identical, indeed, in all aspects except for "lacking the baggage of imperialist tyranny".

There were no volunteers, so the coach asked everyone who was not interested in participating to leave the meeting room. L'Gazzy Burfict was the only one left, asleep as he usually is during team meetings. Thanks to a road game at Berlin a couple of seasons ago, Burfict had a passport, so they put him on the next flight to Beijing, which would be his stopover before Pyongyang.

Burfict led a group of uniformed athletes through drills in an empty 150,000 seater stadium, and by the end of the week they could even run plays. L'Gazzy could only remember Off Tackle, Slants and QB Sneak, but it was enough to get them playing against the 3-4 defense he installed. Coaches watched and took notes as he put them through reps and conditioning drills.

The trip came to a sad conclusion when, on the last night, Burfict wandered out of the hotel room for the first time "looking for Cracker Barrel". He was quickly arrested at gunpoint. Four days in a prison cell followed as diplomatic negotiations took place. One agreed arms shipment later and Burfict was on a flight back home. Where he had Cracker Barrel.

Naturally, the UK market is one that is slowly becoming infatuated with the game and as such will hold massive appeal to any league that is looking to expand its audience. Now, if you’re going to send anyone from Arizona to the UK then it simply has to be those with a connection to London and the UK as a whole. Given that Glenn Smart is from the UK and began his journey in the league with the London Royals, his ticket is as good as booked. Additionally, we have Tayshawn Crunk and L’Gazzy Burfict — both of whom have strong connections to the country, due to their time in London, where they also picked up an Ultimini of their own. We would invite Z-Whiz but he doesn’t travel well and would just dampen the mood with his constant complaining about the lack of a Starbucks every 10 meters. Instead, we’ll take Cortez. A big name QB would certainly add weight to the campaign.

Usually, when other leagues do such workshops in the UK, they always focus on London. They work with the London Blitz and the London Warriors, as it’s easy to get to them and they’re probably the two most dominant teams in the country. A team from London has featured in or won the national final (“Britbowl”) every year since 1997. In Arizona, we have no interest in that nonsense. We’d head north.

A whirlwind tour of workshops with the Tamworth Phoenix, Birmingham Bulls, Sandwell Steelers and potentially even the Shropshire Revolution if we could make the time, would see us hit a demographic of highly engaged players with a high standard of play — and we would be back in Arizona for Monday morning. Perfect!
