Vincent Sharpei walks up to the podium and puts his water bottle down... "It's been a long road to get where we are, and we have a game tonight against the Wraiths. Lets get this going!"
Last year the Saber cats finished tied for worst in the league, now at 3-2 what so you feel is the biggest thing that's helped your team succeed?
One thing that I believe has helped the team succeed is the cohesion we've built throughout the off-season and pre-season. We have really become a unit and I would even go as far to say a Family, and I think we can keep this momentum going forward.
In the past 24 hours you've gotten 2 new teammates one of which you played alongside with in Baltimore last season, do you feel a connection and feel how do you think this will help you and your team?
I do have a connection to Matthew Peterson, he was one of the first to welcome me to Baltimore and he helped me learn the ins and the outs of the league when I was new. He has been a big help, and bringing him into San Jose is going to help our Secondary immensely. Brian Wheat is a great addition to add to our Receiving Core and I can not wait to see what he can do on the field.
What is your prediction for tonight's game against the wraiths, tension seems pretty high.
I believe it will be a hard-fought game with us coming out on top. Gotta love that home-field advantage.
And finally how do you keep your hair in such great condition?!
Hours and hours of work and patience my dear apprentice. I can teach you if you would like.
How have you been messing with your new teammates so far?
I love to play pranks on them, even if its the basic itching powder in the jock strap, or filling up cars with popcorn. There's a good one I'm working on right now, it has to do with hiding cat fish bait in one of my teammates lockers.
What are your end of season goals?
I want to see San Jose push into the playoffs, ride the wind and go to the Ultimus. That are my end of the season goals..
What have you been working on in practice?
I've been in the weight room a lot, trying to build up my strength. I need to keep up with these other big guys in the league, and this is one of the best ways I know how.
Is there a particular player you're hoping to Pancake tonight?
I want to Pancake the hell out of Bork Bjornsson, just because I think hes a great athlete and player.
What's your relationship with Ethan Hunt like?
I protect him, he buys the food. It sounds like a great deal. But for real though, I have had no problems with Mr. Hunt and I enjoy his presence he brings into the locker room and to the games.
What are the differences between the Locker room and Team and fans from Baltimore to San Jose?
To be honest with you, I feel like there is more of a family setting here in San Jose. Everybody knows your name and is looking out for you, and there is a lot more involvement by the higher ups in the team then there was in Baltimore. I enjoyed my time in Baltimore, but we were going through a tough transitional period where our GMs weren't really focusing on the team as a hole. What Hendrix is doing out there is amazing, and nothing short of a miracle. They are glad that
Any Truth to the rumor that you are the so called "Vitamin" Supplier to the NSFL?
Uhh... I need to speak to my Lawyer about this and I can get back to you about that...
How was the locker room feeling after the loss to Yellowknife, and the fact that with so called "Home Cooking" being so powerful this far into the league's history?
It was hard, but it was a lesson. We learned a lot about ourselves and the team as a whole after that game. It will motivate us and continue to push us so we can strive to be what we know we can be, and push us to where we want to go. Playoffs baby!
If you weren't In San Jose, where would you be?
At home on my couch. hahaha. But no, for real, I have no idea, it really would have depended on how far I fell in the draft I guess. I don't really care where I played, as long as I got to play.
Any news on the Chicago Blues you would like to announce here?
That's still under raps, and we are working night and day to get what we need to get done with that team. When we are further along there will be announcements to be made.
What do you think of the rumors of an affair between John Canton and Carrie Underwood?
I think that if it is happening, I hope John can talk to Carrie about getting me some face time with Ariana Grande. She is one woman I'd love to... meet... if you know what I'm sayin'!
How has the Sabercats' rebuild changed the culture of the team?
It has brought life into a once dead locker room, and has brought a lot of family bonding through a team, that just a few weeks ago was not the same feeling. Adversity builds character, and man, what we are doing in San Jose is something very special. I can't wait to see what we continue to do.
Have you accepted Lord Nibbler as our savior?
I want to throw this out there, I accepted Lord Nibbler as my Lord and Savior before most others. I guess you could say I am a trend setter, because without Lord Nibbler, I don't know where I would be in my life. He brings purpose to my life, and I am excited that he has come down and is leading us to the Promised Land.
If you were a running back, how many yards would you get?
I would clearly be leading the league, and I would be averaging probably close to 5 yards a carry. I am a beast with the ball, and people would get out of my way, unless they enjoy being hit by a freight train.
Pineapple on pizza, great topping or best topping?
That is Blasphemy, and something our Great Lord and Savior Lord Nibbler would not accept. You Heretic, fix your thoughts before Lord Nibbler looks down at you, and casts you away!
If you had practiced with the air band, what would your instrument of choice be?
Uhh, we did practice, and continue to practice. It's okay, you usually don't notice because your'e to busy somewhere else. I am clearly the Lead Guitarist, and will continue to shred on this guitar until the death of me. SOLO TIME *Vincent Sharpei breaks out his air guitar and starts going to town, playing like a mad man on fire*
Who's the team's next breakout star?
*After Vince's nasty solo. He pretends to put his guitar away and then straightens his shirt.* That is a hard one to say, because there are quite a bit of rookies on this team, and while I believe we are all stars already, the "Breakout" as you guys would like to call it would have to be Darren Smallwood. He is getting out of Garden's shadow, and while he does have to play with Shane Weston, those two will compliment each other very well. Smallwood is someone that is in the gym from morning until night, and will continue to push the boundaries and will become a force to be reckoned with.
What is your favorite dinosaur?
My favorite dinosaur would have to be none other then the mighty mighty Albertosaurus. The Albertosaurus is a genus of tyrannosaurid theropod dinosaurs that lived in western North America during the Late Cretaceous Period, about 70 million years ago. The type species, A. sarcophagus, was apparently restricted in range to the modern-day Canadian province of Alberta, after which the genus is named. Scientists disagree on the content of the genus, with some recognizing Gorgosaurus libratus as a second species. Basically, a T-Rex that lived in the north-west of Canada.
What effect, if any, will the SaberCats' recent flurry of roster moves have on your commitment to the organization moving forward?
Something that I do hate to discuss, is the future, especially with contract talks and such. That's what agents are for. I will state that the changes that I have seen thus far, and continue to see, make San Jose a very appealing place to play, and its already a great city to raise a family in. Im more focused on the rest of this season and next season before we talk about Free Agency, but I do like the moves that San Jose are taking to become a contender.
Anyone in particular you model your game after?
The Great Willie Roaf. He was an anchor on the offensive line, and he was an outstanding citizen. He played wonderfully in New Orleans, and then he blocked for one of the greatest running backs to ever grace Kansas City, in Priest Holmes. Willie Roaf is a legend among men, and that is a big reason why I even wear #77. An Idol of mine, I hope to one day meet, I hope I can be half the Tackle that Rolf was when he played in the NFL.
3-way cage match between you, Dan Miller & a grizzly bear. Who comes out alive?
That's a tough one. We already know that the Bear is the first one to die, but between me and Miller... I guess I'm going to have to go with myself, you know boost my own abilities. It would be a hard fight, but I think i'd come out on top, Miller in 2nd, and the bear would be the first one to go down. Yes people always talk about how scary Grizzly Bears can be, but have you seen how scary Dan Miller and myself can be, when we don't have food? I wouldn't want to be around that, that much I can tell ya.
How do you feel about the news that Trey Willie may be your team's number 1 draft pick next season?
Its very interesting to see. I believe that Trey Willie can be a top wide receiver in the league, and so far he has shown the presence in the weight room. I can't speak to much on him, because I do not know much about him since hes not in our locker room, but from the tapes I've watched he is a force to be reckoned with.
How do I get fine-tuned abs like yours?
Very very carefully, lots of beer, lots of liquor, lots of food and lots of sex...
Vincent, how do you feel you are situated to be this coming season? Are you afraid your tone abs may get in the way of future success?
I believe that my tone abs will make me an even better player and threat on the offensive line this coming season. These abs help me with my day to day activities, and they help me get the ladies. If anything, you all need to get on this plan and get these fine-tuned Abs. How many guys do you see over 300 lbs with these types of abs?
Second question would be one that of, what do you feel you will focus on improving this season and how might you address that?
I feel right now, I need to work on my blocking techniques for both running and passing. It is one of my weaker areas, and I plan to address that throughout to season. This off season I've done a lot of Strength training and I can tell already that I have grown through that. Technique is my biggest issue right now.
Finally, how do you feel about the current status of this league and what may be a valuable suggestion to improve it?
I believe that the league is moving in the right direction, even if the DSFL might have come on a season to early. A suggestion I would make, and even then I wouldn't really classify it as a suggestion, is to look into the contracts. Keeping super teams around for a long period of time can be detrimental to the league and there could be a fix to it.
Quick question. I'm Charlie Law, one of the draft prospects and we're doing our media stuff down the hall and I really don't know where the bathroom is and I kinda figured you might?
Yeah man no problem. You're gonna turn around and take a left, then a right, then three more lefts. Up a set of stairs and there should be the bathroom! Hope that helps you
