IMO, it was very likely to be a ploy. However, the risk of drafting an inactive in the first round would've killed the deal for me.

We didn't buy the bluff. I have proof, but since it was in our private discord channel I can't share it without the person who said its consent. It's not our fault your scout teams didn't look into him as in depth as we did. We ran a risk letting him fall to the 4th, and it paid off.

I mean it wasn't exactly a top level secret that it was a bluff. From our perspective it just wasn't worth using an early round pick on someone who is willing to fake going inactive
