My first year there was so much spinning around in my head. I had moved my entire family from Buffalo, NY to Santa Ana, CA. It was a huge transition for me coming out of college. I never strayed away from my family or my giving nature but I did find myself stressed more and more wondering how to do certain things and if I would even make the team. I would work and then come home and work some more. It seemed like this picture, this dream that I had of my career was not what it was supposed to be. It was then I started to smoke marijuana. I would do it a bit after practice just to get the edge off and then I would go home. After a short time I started being late to practice and gaining weight. Then I was pulled aside by my good friend Robert Phelps. He straightened me out and showed me a different less illegal way to deal with my problems. I owe everything I have to that man.
