Marc Spector is no stranger to danger. He lives for it. It's part of his lifestyle. You don't explore the unexplored corners of the world if you don't have a penchant for the precocious. Marc frequents jungle ruins, deserted forts, deep caverns and mountainous peaks any time he's not training for football. One particular instance he was in Cambodia, exploring a long uninhabited Funan cultural site. He had strayed away from his team, because he heard a strange sound. He thought it sounded kind o like several ticking clocks, but it turned out to be a huge nest of spiders. This was not as startling of a site as you might imagine. Marc knows his Arachnology well enough that this certain breed of tarantula is an abundance, and even a delicacy to the Cambodian people. But when this nest of spiders accidentally fell and covered Marc with literally thousands of young, freshly hatched spiders, even with his savvy, he folded under the pressure and screamed like a 7 year old watching IT. He ran as fast as he could, peeling batches of spiders from his hair and face, throwing them all over. His crew scrambled and witnessed Marc covered head to toe with spiders. Luckily, the young hatchlings' fangs were either too soft or too short to penetrate his skin. Had this been some highly venomous species, Marc would have been dead.
