Despite being only a couple of years out of college, San Jose defensive end Cordell Joshua has been in a few sticky situations out there in the big bad world. The first arose when he was smoking cannabis in his dorm room at Texas Tech. The school threatened to come down hard on it as a serious violation of their athletic code of conduct but in the end he managed to escape with only a written warning. Then during his first year of play in the DSFL, a paternity suit by a fellow student at Texas Tech who Cordell was alleged to have engaged in sexual activity with resulting in an unwanted pregnancy emerged, with the woman in question attempting to collect a large amount of backdated child support among a large variety of other costs. The Coyotes legal team represented Cordell and managed to squash the suit before it gained traction, citing the lack of DNA evidence due to the mothers refusal to submit a sample from the child as evidence enough that he was not the father. Once this went away, a stern talking to from his coach demanding he be less of an idiot in future followed, and since then Cordell has worked to be a consummate professional and a good role model for the younger fans of the NSFL.
