I just realized I completely missed the point of this. I thought the original idea resulted from the fact that certain players take small contracts and that adding a higher tier of equipment would incentivize them not to. And actually if you just had TPE based contract minimums then money would become pretty worthless so in that case I'd be more for making the current items more expensive, per what TC described

No you're right, I'm suggesting it as a way to combat lowballed contracts by elite players who don't need the money.

It also acts as an actual free agency lure, where signing with a bad team with cap room means you get an immediate TPE boost, as opposed to grinding for TPE but being on a winning team
