The Baltimore Hawks finished season 6 with yet another heart-breaker. In a season that was eerily reminiscent of season 4, which saw the Hawks lose at home to the Philadelphia Liberty in week 14 to be eliminated from playoff contention. This season, despite a solid season that saw many standout performances, the Hawks fell to the Yellowknife Wraiths in week 14 to once again be eliminated from playoff contention. There are many positive things to build on for next year, however. First off, the play of two defensive newcomers, linebackers Goodson and Roenick made a name for themselves, with Roenick being a easy finalist for defensive rookie of the year. Cornerback Antoine Delacour is a front-runner for defensive back of the year after leading the league in passes defended, as well as finishing with 5 interceptions and 2 defensive touchdowns. Avon Blocksdale threw the second-most touchdowns, tied for the least interceptions, and had the second-highest quarterback rating. Owen Taylor set a new single season record for rushing yards. However, despite all of these fantastic performances, the team just couldn’t put it all together. Next year, though, will be much different.
