Playoff Predictions:
NSFC Championship:

The Liberty will be hosting the NSFC championship game for the first time this season, and I like their odds of making it to their first Ultimus appearance. Though the Wraiths are a worthy opponent as they are a good team with plenty of playoff experience. The Liberty look to be much stronger on paper with a +127 point differential compared to the Wraiths' +46 point differential. The head to head matchup is very favorable to the Liberty as they swept the Wraiths this season with a 33-31 win on the road and a dominating 40-14 win in their regular season matchup in Philadelphia. I think the Liberty will beat the Wraiths for a third time this season and advance to the Ultimus game.

ASFC Championship:

After two years of coming close only to miss out narrowly, the Sabercats have made their first playoff apperance. They will look to make it to the Ultimus game by knocking off the defending champion Orange County Otters. Both teams finished tied for the best record in the league at 11-3. By point differntial, the Otters were a lot better with a +217 margin while the Sabercats finished with a +83 point differential. The Otters also swept the Sabercats during the season, though both games were close, and will have home field advantage in the playoff matchup. The Sabercats have had a great season, but I don't think they will be good enough to knock off the Otters on the road and the Otters will compete for a third consecutive championship.

NSFL Championship:

For the third year in a row, the NSFL Championship game will be played in Orange County. Will the Liberty become the first NSFC team to hoist the Ultimus? It will be a tough road for them. Despite the Liberty having the second best point differential in the league, the Otters' point differential was still 90 points better. Additionally, the Otters won both regular season matchups, 37-20 at home and 23-16 on the road. The Liberty are a great team and certainly a worthy opponent, but the odds are against them being able to dethrone the Otters this year. I think the Otters will complete the threepeat.

Hate the Player or the game:
The Arizona Outlaws missed the playoffs for the first time this season, but you can make a case that they deserved to be in the playoffs this year. The Outlaws finished 8-6, giving them the fourth best record in the league, ahead of the Wraiths who made the playoffs. Since schedules are balanced between conferences, the Outlaws and Wraiths played the same strength of schedule but the Outlaws came away with a better record. The main difference being that the Wraiths tied with the Second Line in one of their games while the Outlaws swept them this season. So by looking at a purely record perspective, I believe that the Outlaws deserve to make the playoffs over the Wraiths. However, I'm not sure that the Outlaws are a better team than the Wraiths. That Magic Moment:
A magic moment occured with 3:21 remaining in the ASFC Championship. The Sabercats had just scored a touchdown to tie the game up 29-29 late in the fourth quarter. At this point, the Otters' offense took the field. The unit that had set a single season record for points scored this season lined up infront of their home crowd needing just a few more points to punch their ticket to their third straight NSFL championship game. They drove the ball downfield as usual though they were working against the clock as time dwindled down. The drive stalled out on the Sabercats' 17 yard line and the game came down to one final field goal. With all the high TPE players on the Otters' roster, their fate ultimately came down to a 241 TPE kicker. All eyes were on Brad Madlad as he lined up for the kick that would either send the Otters to the championship game or put their season on the line in overtime. Madlad may not be the best kicker by TPE, but he came up big when it mattered most as his 34 yard field goal went straight down the middle to put the Otters back in the lead with what ultimately proved to be the game winning points. In this one magic moment, the Otters' season was on the line, and they delivered, which is why they will get the chance to win their third consecutive championship.
Matchup Nightmares:
The Ultimus game could be a long game for Clifford Rove. Playing next to the higher rated Kevin Cushing, Rove will be the weak link in the Liberty's cornerback duo that the Otters will look to target. This is unfortunate for him because the Otters do not have a week link in their wide receiver duo. The Otters have arguably the most threatening wide receiver duo in the league. On one side, the Otters have Bradley Westfield, who is arguably the best wide receiver in NSFL history. He leads the record books in receiving yards and is the most talented wide receiver in the league with the most TPE. On the other side of the field is last season's player association MVP, Jordan Yates. Yates is a running back by his nature but has been playing the best football of his career since he started lining up out wide last season and he broke the single season receiving yards record this year. I'm not sure which of these players will be lined up against Rove, but either way, it will be a tough match up. Either way, Rove, a middle tier cornerback, will have to try to shut down one of the best receivers in the league while going up against the best quarterback in the league. This may ultimately be the matchup that tips the Ultimus game in the Otters' favor.
