Unsung Hero:Who was the unsung hero of the playoffs, convince us. (Can be completed after the Ultimus game)
Bradley Madlad is the reason the Otters will play for their third consecutive Ultimus Title. Yes, the Sabercats had a tremendous collapse at the end of the season to lose the home field advantage they held for pretty much all year. A collapse their social media team warned the fanbase about over and over. Yes the o-line absolutely screwed over Chris Orosz in the fourth quarter when they left him wide open on three consecutive sacks that led to a safety. At the end of the day though, the Otters didn't play that great. Mike Boss was average. The run game was just okay. The Otters were trying hard to hold off a Cats team that seemed to get better as the game went on. The game was right there for the Cats to take away as they continued to charge with reckless abandon.
But Bradley Madlad wasn't having any of that. Field goal after field goal sailed through the uprights until Madlad kicked the winning three points with half a minute left. He put the team on his back, or rather, on his leg, and he sent them into the Ultimus yet again. After all is said and done, others will get the glory and the accolades, but it's Bradley Madlad who did the work when the entire season was on the line. His leg is what Chris Orosz will have nightmares of as he lays awake in the cold nights agonizing over how close he finally came.
Matchup Nightmares: Pick an offensive and defensive player who will be going up against each other and why it will be a nightmare for one of them. (Must be completed before the playoff series you write about)
Jonathon King of the Orange County Otters may be enjoying the return trip to the Ultimus but in the back of his mind, he has to be sweating. His future dreams of a ring could be a nightmare in the form of Josh Garden. The elite, Hall of Fame level wide receiver will be King's assignment during the Ultimus Title game. It's a matchup absolutely no one wants. There's no winning for King. It's not a matter of if Garden gets by him. It's when. Garden has been breaking the backs of corners his entire career and making even the most elite look like overmatched children.
In the past there may have been some pressure relieved by some teams doubling Garden, but that is no longer possible. Fox north has emerged as possibly an even more dangerous complementary receiver than he was as a primary. Paul Dimirio continues to give every defensive player in the middle fits. Rookie Blessed Storm is even drawing significant attention. No. King is on his own for most if not all of the coming Ultimus game and he knows it. He can only hope that the rest of the team holds up as they did during the regular season. Otherwise he may have to live wiht the regret.
