Blaster Blade turned out to be one of the biggest busts in NSFL history. He looked to be a very promising prospect for the Yeti after they drafted him #2 overall in the Season 2 draft. However, he only stayed active for one season and was ultimately traded away in the offseason after his rookie year. The Yeti had a desperate need at offensive line that year, imagine what could have been if they had drafted Vincent Sharpei instead who would have provided a quality offensive lineman and would have eventually been able to switch to whatever the Yeti needed. However, the worst part about Blade being a bust was the opportunity cost incurred by the Yeti. Not only did they draft Blade with a high pick, they had to trade up to get that pick so they also gave up their third round pick. That pick turned out to be Paul DiMirio who has been a stud for the Liberty. The Yeti could have had Michah Hendrix and Paul DiMirio with those picks instead of Blade, which could have changed the course of the franchise. If they wanted to double dip at offensive line, they could have even had Avon Blocksdale with their third round pick. The Yeti giving up assets to move up in a stacked draft class and whiffing on the pick proved to be very costly as the Yeti could be a very different team today if things had gone differently in that draft.
