It's all about core, baby. Every move I make, both on and off the field, every jump cut, every spin move, every stiff arm and every hurdle begins and ends with a strong, solid core. Some people utilize complicated strength training regimens, over-hyped yoga, and pilates routines and even ab stimulating shock belts...seriously...but the key to a strong, well defined and malleable core is a combination of quick movements and constant repetition. Most muscle groups grow and learn from being constantly and consistently bent and broken, followed by being rebuilt, stronger and better suited and the core muscle groups are no different. By subjecting my core to rigorous, repetitive training, it allows me to better navigate run schemes, adjust my hips, realign my center of gravity and readjust my trajectory to hit and clear holes that lesser running backs may get swallowed up by. A strong core allows me to pinball my way through the trenches and find the end zone instead of crumbling at the first sign of contact. It is the most important part of my game. It is life.
