Honestly, the NSFL could put anyone out there during halftime and it would be absolutely okay. The fans are there for the game, only the people at home really care about the show and then tune out after that. Most of the time everyone is either excited or extremely disappointed with the performance they get. The Ultimus halftime is just an extended period of rest and strategic adjustments for the teams involved. The timeslot halftime takes up improves the quality of the game as we have seen in recent years. There's not really a reason to change how we deal with one of the most anticipated events in sports. It's a formula that works, and generally any pop singer is a good selection. From a purely business standpoint, there's not that much money to be made in appealing to the masses. The demographic that buys the jerseys and keeps supporting the league are the fans of our teams, not people who watch one game for the spectacle.
