Here's an idea that will never, ever happen: have a TPE cap instead of (or, probably more likely, in addition to) a salary cap. Soft cap, of course, where adding a contract above a certain team TPE threshold incurs a cap penalty. It'd need a ton of polishing to even approach being serviceable but in a league where the salary cap and money don't really matter something like that may help free agency.

Speaking of ideas I like that'll never happen:

Make the DSFL a second tier league, not a minor league.  Every season 2 teams get promoted from DSFL from NSFL and 2 NSFL teams get relegated to DSFL. 

Love the idea of relegation.
