My Memorial Day weekend was spent in the same places most days are: The weight room. Granted, I wasn't in there the entire day, but I can't let myself fall behind. In this league, that's as good as a cut. Fortunately, I was able to get back down south for the day, and find a plane ticket back to Yellowknife the next morning.
Besides that, however, my family had a small get together, and everyone got to see each other. We didn't have any fireworks, but we did have a cornhole tournament that I placed a somewhat respectable 4th place in. I can not say that I was disappointed, after all, my sport of choice is football, not cornhole. We did have a thanksgiving esque backyard football game though, and we won, obviously. I was not about to let that one slip away.
But, by far and away, the best part of our day was the meal. Mama’s cookin and pa’s famous barbecue chicken were a sight to behold, and a taste to savor.
Once it was all done, I retired early, as I had to get up early the next morning to catch my plane, but the trip let me unwind a bit and get to see family members that I do not get to see very often these days
