There are two records and two running backs that I'm keeping an eye on as we approach the half way mark of the National Simulation Football League. The first is attempts in a season. Reggie Mackworthy is at a whopping 182 attempts in 6 games, averaging just north of 30 attempts per game. This is currently on pace for 425 attempts in a season, with the record currently set at 409 attempts in a season which is held by Second Line's running back A. Savea.
The other is total rushing yards in the year. Mackworthy is currently in the lead with 704 yards, averaging a respectable 3.9 yards per carry. This is on pace for 1,643 yards on the year which would trounce the current record of 1,402 set by O. Taylor of the Hawks. While I think Mackworthy could do it, I think that we're going to see D. Smallwood of the New Orleans Second Line break it. Despite having about 40 less carries than Mackworthy, he is only 8 yards behind Mackworthy at 696 while averaging a fantastic 5 yards per carry. This puts him on pace for 1,624 yards on the season, but if the Second Line gives him the ball just 2-3 times more per game things could greatly change.
