Do you remember the last time Yellowknife tried to rebuild? They got to an Ultimus final again, but again they failed to win it. Such is the prophecy foretold by current, past and future GM Spike Crown and his band of merry misfits.
Really we're in what S8 right now. While the Liberty have went the easier (harder/) route dependent on their trades to stockpile for the future after securing their first ever championship title. It's up in arms to see what exactly Yellowknife do.
They have an aging QB in Akselsen, an aging WR core in Cook & Kennedy, an aging secondary containing Lavelle, Hardrool and the soon to be retired Carter. An aging LB and DL core containing Hendrix, Tuck, Maddox and Tweed. To be honest with you the entire team is a graveyard or another way to describe it would be to call it a boulevard of broken dreams.
Regardless it looks like in the next 2/3 seasons whenever Yellowknife stop competing and by the time they have hopefully won the big game, they will have to commit to the rebuild sooner rather than later.
Plus with the upcoming drafts said to be recreate heavy, Yellowknife could possibly snag a future franchise player if they're quick on the trigger.
