Robbed: Write about why a team that failed to make the playoffs should have over somebody else. Can be completed at any point
Ugh this is kind of a tough one because in reality there's no outright team that deserved to hit the playoffs or got "robbed" as you phrase it.
The Philadelphia Liberty completed their fire sale just before the week 10 trade deadline and pretty much knocked themselves out of the playoff run that week, or so you thought. They hung on to actually secure a 7-7 record, which was good enough for 3rd in the NSFC just behind the tied Baltimore Hawks who also had a 7-7 record.
The Colorado Yeti secured an impressive 6-8 record which defied expectations but not a playoff worthy team and any point, but they will be next season. The Arizona Outlaws struggled to a 5-9 record behind a 9-5 New Orleans Second Line side which showed to signs of slowing down.
The San Jose Sabercats mustered an impressive ugh 1 win from 14 regular season games so again, to conclude no team was really robbed out of a playoff spot. The best 4 teams rightfully got into this years playoff bouts. No real team out of the other 4 deserved to even hit the playoffs and didn't. Whether it was the stuttering Yeti, the firesale Liberty or the anemic Outlaws team. None of them were robbed, no team was robbed.
Matchup Nightmares: Pick an offensive and defensive player who will be going up against each other and why it will be a nightmare for one of them. (Must be completed before the playoff series you write about)
The Yellowknife Wraiths will faceoff with home field advantage, opposing the New Orleans Second Line and really there's a big matchup at play. That matchup is of course New Orleans Second Line wide receiver Dustin Evans who will be facing off against Yellowknife Wraiths veteran cornerback Dermot Lavelle in a series that will decide the very fate of this years Ultimus game.
Evans is supposedly ending the tail end of his career but still putting up stats like 65 catches, 1087 yards and 11 touchdowns. When he's playing this good why would he ever retire?
Lavelle on the other hand is on a downswing compared to his 7 interception season which was a recent memory before last season, this year he finished on a mere 4 interceptions with 18 pass deflections and despite being at the absolute peak of his career, many are concerned with his ability to shadow Dustin Evans downfield for an extended time, especially in a heavy man to man coverage which Yellowknife frequents.
Either way the Yellowknife v NOLA fixture will definitely be a great occasion and regardless of the overall result , we will have a new Ultimus champion. Please for the lord's sake let it be Yellowknife's day, I can't deal with many more chokes in the playoffs.
Sit-down with a star:Interview a player from a team that is not your own that is in the playoffs. You must ask them four questions and at least three must relate to the league in some way. YOU MUST POST THE QUESTIONS AND THEIR ANSWERS FOR CREDIT. (Can be completed at any point) - SLM'S ANSWERS
You guys crashed out in the NSFC Conference game to the Yellowknife Wraiths, 38-24. What exactly went wrong there?
How is the morale in the locker room after the playoff early exit?
Many have speculated that the Baltimore Hawks may themselves head into firesale mode in the near future, can you confirm/deny these claims and why?
Had you defeated Yellowknife in the playoffs, how confident would you have been heading into an Ultimus versing NOLA?
Just how many years does Blocksdale have left in the tank?

How did it feel to finally break the curse?
Well it's been a long time coming. 8 years in the works in fact and it just feels great to finally win the big one, the Ultimus. We've come so close too many times and thankfully this time we weren't denied from hoisting it above our heads. Many people speculated that we were cursed or that the Burial Grounds were built on an actual burial grounds (possibly) but regardless we persevered and managed to bring the Ultimus home to Canada.
Did you think you guys would win it?
If you're heading into a game with the mindset that you're going to lose it then you will do exactly that, lose it. We went out their with the same mindset as always, go out there to win the game instead of just to not lose it. Everybody was pulling for each other on both sides of the ball and it worked out for us in the end.
What're expectations for S9?
Hopefully to repeat and bring a second championship home to Yellowknife!
Who was the best player on the S8 Wraiths and why?
Really it's hard to single one person out as everybody really pushed hard for each other all season and really it all worked out for us, everybody put in the work and we got what we deserved. I just hope going forward we can replicate all of this and bring another one home!
