His questions to me
You guys crashed out in the NSFC Conference game to the Yellowknife Wraiths, 38-24. What exactly went wrong there?
- I don't really think much went wrong. We started out up 21-0 and we have a lot of great talent. Matty Aks is a great talent and going against him while the Wraiths were the home team is always a tough ask. The Wraiths have a lot of talent, so I wouldn't say anything went wrong to lose in the championship game.
How is the morale in the locker room after the playoff early exit?
- Morale were surprisingly high. The team was disappointed with a bad regular season, but we managed to squirm our way into the playoffs. So I would say the team was feeling optimistic heading into season 9 for sure.
Many have speculated that the Baltimore Hawks may themselves head into firesale mode in the near future, can you confirm/deny these claims and why?
- We can affirmatively deny those rumors. The Baltimore Hawks are in great shape, ready to contend in S9 and in S10 as well. There's no reason for us to pull a philly and sell everyone off. Yes they might get set up to be in great shape in a few seasons, but we're ready to stay competitive. We have all our high level picks, and have the ability to draw Free Agents so I think we'll be good enough to win a championship in the coming seasons, and not have to bottom out.
Had you defeated Yellowknife in the playoffs, how confident would you have been heading into an Ultimus versing NOLA?
- If we beat Yellowknife in Yellowknife I would've felt pretty good in New Orleans. They're a very talented team, but I would say that we would've been able to gone in and won in NOLA for sure. I think they would've considered themselves favored but we are not afraid at all and I like to think our Offensive advantage would give it to us.
Just how many years does Blocksdale have left in the tank?
Avon is about to start regressing - but he's a machine. With the offensive talent surrounding him in Baltimore he's going to be viable for a while. I imagine he'll play until there's a replacement to come in and take over for him. For now though he's just around having fun.
ULTIMUS MVP
Robby Rainey was a steal for the Yellowknife Wraiths immediately when he was drafted in the second round (and the Wraiths acquired him in a ridiculous steal of a trade with the Arizona Outlaws. Rainey had a pretty good Ultimus game but you're not here to read about his Ultimus game. You're here to see what Rainey did in disney land. He met a ton of characters he mt Woody from Toy Story, Jasmine from Aladdin, Gaston (from Beauty & the Beast), Anna from Frozen, Aladdin, The Beast The Genie (from Aladdin), Timon & Pumba (from Lion King), Donald Duck, Flynn Rider (from Tangled), Muchu (from Mulan), Mickey Mouse, Scar (from Lion King), Ariel (from Little Mermaid), Belle (from Beauty & The Beast), Goofy and Simba (from Lion king).
In addition to those characters Robby also went to all the different worlds of Disney. He went to epcott, magic kindom, animal kingdom, MGM studios. He went on rolar coasters like rockin roller coaster and he even went on the legendary space mountain. After getting hot he decided he wanted to go into the water park and he went to Blizzard Beach and he went to Typhoon Lagoon. His favorite ride was the Tower of terror as he a spooky master. I don't know why, but this was awful to write. 220
PLAYOFF SERIES MVP
The NSFC Championship game score didn't look close at the first blush. The Hawks lost by 14, when they fell 38 to 24. The Hawks in fact were initially up by a dominant three touchdown lead when they started out the game 21 to 0. The Yellowknife Wraiths however didn't falter and were not afraid at all. The Wraiths were monster and came back. The biggest reason was their defense. Marcus Kane stood out with 12 tackles, three of them were behind the line of scrimmage for a loss and additionally he had one sack. Kane did well but I think the MVP of the game has to go to Mat Akselsen. He had no interceptions, but threw for less than 50%. Still though his mistake free game, two touchdowns, and 245 yards helped lead the Wraiths to victory. He threw for less yards than Rival Avon Blocksdale (dude threw 420 yards) but Blocksdale did throw a pick. Aks had to be the NSFC championship game MVP and he is a big reason the Wraiths are the one walking home with the title. Aks had a shaky playoff reputation as a choker, and he was fully completely able to shed that reputation with a great win here and a major game in the Ultimus. 214
