Friday night was an extremely special night for Colorado Yeti fans, and that's not just because their game versus the Yellowknife Wraiths determined if their playoff dreams would come true. Former Yeti mainstay running back and now Yellowknife Wraith linebacker Boss Tweed announced earlier in the season that he was retiring at the end of the year, and Yeti fans everywhere were looking forward to watching the fan favorite play in Denver one last time.
After the teams took the field, the stadium jumbotron turned to a highlight reel of Tweed's best moments in Colorado, ranging from his appearance in the first ever Ultimus Bowl to carrying the terrible Yeti a few years later on his back. Tweed's number was retired, and a banner was unveiled with his jersey hanging from the upper deck, forever memorializing him in the team's history.
With all the love to go around, the Yeti still had a job to do and they did it. Despite the Wraiths' best efforts (and an almost-game-tying drive at the very end), the Yeti escaped with a 7 point win in one of the most exciting games of the season. Boss Tweed was showing his age, as the former linebacker of the year posted only two tackles and two pass defenses. Despite effectively ending his career without a final playoff run, Yeti players and fans all congratulated Tweed as he left the Colorado field for the last time as an NSFL player.
