Arizona, USA
Footballer Sackerman has spent the past few seasons as a member of the tweener team in Arizona, the Outlaws. While he has enjoyed his time in the desert and had no real issues with the team, his agent felt the thirst to experience being a free agent, something he had not experienced in 5 sim leagues over the course of a year and a half.
On January 20th, Sackerman asked Head GM run_cmc if the team would be so kind as to use the team option on his contract so that he can finally get that true free agent experience. “Hey run, i hate to ask this but can you exercise my team option this season? I really wanna experience FA and I’ve never done it in the 5 leagues I’m in.” Sackerman feels that he was very professional and friendly in his asking.
GM run_cmc replied by saying, “Hey cpetrella! I get what you're asking, but unfortunately the period to do so has already passed...” when clearly, as the offseason schedule states, the final day to use contract options is on January 26. Run then went onto explain that the releasing of my player would hurt the team, which I do understand, however I think if he had just said that instead of giving me false information, it would have been a much better response. He was also very respectful in saying that if I chose to go elsewhere next offseason, he will understand, which I do appreciate.
And yes, while the departure of a (semi) active DT at ~350 TPE will surely weaken any team, Sackerman is 3rd on the Outlaws’ depth chart at the position. If any team can afford to lose a DT, it’s the Outlaws.
While I am not usually the type of person to write something like this, I wish that the Arizona management would have either respected my wishes (I understand that they are not obligated to, as it is a Team Option, not a Player Option) or just have told me the straight up truth instead of telling me the date has passed when I could easily go see that it hasn’t.
Until next offseason, Footballer Sackerman will be held hostage in Arizona.
