Peter Larson is no stranger to big money checks having been drafted into the SHL minor league. However the size of his rookie package for the San Antonio Marshalls blew him away. 5 mil! Insane! Although he can already see that the costs and upkeep are more expensive for a football prospect than a hockey one.
Training and equipment expenses aside Peter knows the first thing he needs is a place to live. It needs to big suitably sized for visiting friends and his Danish family to be able to stay and most importantly have a good living-dining-outdoor flow for the inevitable BBQ and eating events that come with such visits.
The place he found is a beautiful four bedroom two story villa with a small enclosed yard, in Edison, northwest San Antonio. Close to the San Antonio River walk which Peter is hoping to make his running route. Close to the university stadium for game days but maybe a little further from the training grounds. That was always going to be a tension for Peter wanting to live close enough to the cultural centre of the city without adding too much commute to his day. The blisfully easy run to the airport is perfect though.
So place sorted, maybe the yard is a little smaller than what he was used to in anchorage, but the first floor living spaces more than make up for it.
Last thing to buy then for now, cause Peter knows this going to be a pit stop only for his career so no need for much more... But he does need a truck. He's loved his nissan pathfinder in Alaska, but feels it's time to see how good the competition is. Bamn, the Toyota Hilux, four door with tray cover, navy blue, with a white stripe.
That will do then, now to just wait for his mum and some of his mates to arrive from around the country and he can show off the his new winter home with a welcome BBQ.
Still money in the bank but Peter knows what's important.
