Man, Coach Cowher really think he has jokes...
The other Outlaws players can tell you about his "Coach Speak", but what they haven't talked about his is "Individual Speak". Coach has a "running gag" with each of us. Something to keep us motivated and on task. With me it's my higher education. In the later months of training camp he asked us what our plan after football was, and when I told him "Aerospace Engineering", he was all like "Well, you must get some practice and apply those skills to intercepting passes!" Now, whenever I don't make an interceptions or even worse, drop one; he's like, 'How did you miscalculate the thermodynamically rate of change there?!" or something like "You're playing like you never tested the ball in a Wind Tunnel!"
It gets annoying at times but it does kind of motivate me. The worst thing is when I mad a big misplay in practice and his brought me to the side and was preaching "Dynamics, dynamics, dynamics, what do I always tell you Harrif? You need to use the Ideal Gas Law to calculate the pressure on the football, and not a fluid dynamical function!" Man, it makes him hard to take seriously sometimes but believe it or not it actually helps me. You might see what he is saying as jubberish but Coach knew about my background at MIT before he drafted me. He knew he wanted me on the squad and even spend 4 months studying multiple topics of Mechanical Engineering so he could "speak my language" and help me better transition to the NFSL. The dude is crazy but I really appreciate him.
