In provincial rugby in NZ there is something similar called the Ranfurly Shield. Difference is you can only win it off the team who holds it by beating them at home, makes it a bit harder to win it in the first place and then also makes home games afterwards more important as you're defending the shield (meaning attendance etc. goes up).
