Another rugby union convert, this time hailing from the rugby heartland that is New Zealand. Ardie Savea set the rugby world alight when he stormed onto the scene in 2013. The younger brother of fellow rugby league superstar Julian Savea, Ardie looked to step out of the shadow of his brother when he decided to make a move into American Football and the National Simulation Football League.
Known as "The bus" in rugby union circles due to his combative running style, Savea has elected to start off his NSFL career playing as a running back, but has stated his willingness to switch position if necessary.
If Savea can show us the athleticism that he is known for in rugby union, he is sure to be a bona fide star on the gridiron.
A starting running back in both prospect games thus far, Savea has struggled slightly. averaging just 2.4 yards per carry off 35 carries in the first game and a better 3.4 average yards per carry off 11 carries in the second game.
Like the other rugby converts, the questions will persist about whether he will be a flash in the pan in pro football or if he is here to stay.
Comments coming out of the Kiwi's camp, suggest it is the latter, and I have no doubt that if he put's the hard work in, he'll be setting the league a light come season two.
