After the playoff loss, I spent a lot of time at home with my family. Working with the team meant we hadn't spent quality time together in months. We went to Disneyland and to the beach in California. It was great to have the free time to be a father and a husband. With one month left until the season, it was back to training and watching film. I would wake up at 5 AM to work on covering route patterns with Saba and Kazimir. At 7:30 I would go to the gym to run 5 miles on the treadmill. At 8:15 it was weightlifting with the team. After the team workouts I would watch hours on hours of film from last season, especially on Franklin Armstrong's tendencies out of the pocket because he had torched us last year. Twice a week at around 4:00 we would run a 30 minute team scrimmage. We had offense and defense mimic plays from other teams last season to prepare for the season's matchups. I would get home around 8 o'clock after another workout session, eat dinner, then go to sleep at around 9 to get rest for tomorrow's workouts. The brutal offseason regimen helps keep me at playing weight and be prepared for the grind of the regular season.
