More commentary!
- As expected, plenty of movement in the 4-8 spots, with each of Arizona, Yellowknife, and Philadelphia climbing a spot. Arizona took care of business against Chicago, while Yellowknife outperformed expectations in a road matchup against San Jose. Philadelphia, meanwhile, played the Otters within 3 points in Orange County. With the 4.5 point home field advantage adjustment, the algorithm actually treats that as a win for Philadelphia, who nearly made me eat my words after calling them a likely candidate to fall down the ranks in the coming weeks.
- The ASFC continues to hold things down atop the rankings, with Orange County, New Orleans, and Arizona occupying three of the top four spots. We did see NOLA and Baltimore flip-flop yet again, and they may not be done as Baltimore will have to travel to New Orleans for the final week of the season. The Otters slide a bit for the second consecutive week but cling on to the #1 spot. With a brutal stretch to close out the season, that spot could be very much up for grabs.
- Yellowknife seems to be working their way into the good graces of the machines, moving up a notch after their win against San Jose. It would not be a surprise to see them keep climbing if they beat Austin, who is currently considered the favorite in that match-up based on these numbers. They would then have shots at 1st ranked Orange County and 4th ranked Arizona at home in consecutive weeks. It would not surprise me to see the Wraiths reclaim the #1 spot they held for most of last season when all is said and done.
- The Yeti continue their slide down the leaderboard, having lost 3 in a row from a point where these ratings were already unkind to them. They have a chance to gain some ground with two remaining games against the 1st and 4th ranked teams, but they can't get caught looking past a road game against San Jose this week.
