In the war of 1812 the capital was burned to the ground with a rampaging redcoat army bearing down on her, and yet she stood up to carry the nation as her capital defiant to the end, allowing for the victory of the nation (winning a battle after the scoreboard was reset means you win). The hawks pay heed to these great acts by washing themselves in the salt of the bay before every game home and away.
