I suspect the stats of the fumbler (STR, HND, AGI maybe) might play a part, but right now it would be a lot of work to gather the required data to check that theory.
I'm working on something that might be able to scrape a bit more info from the play-by-play, though. Like dropped passes, what type of penalties are being given up, and a bit more detail on the field position when a play occurs -- because not all 5 yard passes are equal, and then we can maybe, between us, come up with an "expected points" metric or something of the sort.
