(S19) PT4 - ‘Tis the Season

Thorian Skarsgard always celebrates Christmas, and he always makes sure that he's at home to do so, even if it's only for a day. His mother and father ingrained in him at a young age that Christmas was a special time to spend with family and other loved ones. His parents always pick him up from the airport, and usually his grandmother, aunts, uncles and cousins are already at the house. No matter how long he gets to come home for, he always has an incredible time. He treasures his time with family, as he only gets to see them a few times a year. It's one of the hardships of playing football on the opposite side of the country, or even on the opposite side of an ocean, from those you love. It is a traditional Norwegian Christmas celebration, with his mother and grandmother preparing a meal of roast pork belly, sauerkraut and boiled potatoes. They then spend the evening gathered around a warm fireplace catching up and sharing stories from the year. Before they head off to bed, Thorian goes around an hides any brooms in the house. Norwegian tradition claims that Christmas Eve is a day of evil spirits and witches, so they hide the brooms before bed, and it has been Thorian's job ever since he was a child. On Christmas day they open gifts and just generally spend more time together as a family. It's something Thorian looks forward to every, single year.
