Written Option: Write about how your player or teammates are celebrating this holiday season! If they don’t celebrate any of the religious holidays, you can use New Year’s.
Dermot Lavelle Jr. didn't celebrate christmas this year. Nor did he celebrate New Years Eve or New Years Day, he didn't even have a pint throughout the month of december. Unusual considering that his parents are rampant alcoholics due to them being Irish.
Lavelle Jr. spent the entire offseason running himself into the ground, in order to get ready for the upcoming offseason following th Austin Copperheads first round defeat in this years playoffs, alas this does make 2 consecutive years of playoff appearences for the new franchise, a landmark moment for them all.
Lavelles primary focus for the offseason camps was to improve his ability to read quarterbacks and get to a position where he can force turnovers. His lack of ability to make the big plays has been highly documentated throughout his short four season career and he's going to put in the work needed to change this as quickly as possible.
Lavelle has been consistent in what he has been asked to do in his starting CB role with the Copperheads thus far, he tackles hard, he breaks up passes with his deflections and he snags the occasional interception. On return duty, he's been lightning as well. He's been performing a little under what everybody has expected from him though, as the son of the greatest defensive player in NSFL history.
