1) Playoff Predictions, Reviews:
The NSFL Semifinals was a pretty close game, until about halftime, after that the Wraiths flipped the switch that turned the game into a blowout. This year's NSFL Semifinals featured the Baltimore Hawks up against the number 1 seed Yellowknife Wraiths. The Wraiths started the scoring off with a 32 yard TD pass to Nate Swift, next possession the Hawks responded with their own TD pass to rookie WR Earl Sauce. The Hawks would take the lead early in the 2nd period as they scored a rushing TD from Bigsby to take a 14-10 lead, but that would be the last time they would havev the lead, in fact it would be the last time they will score for the rest of the game. After that the Wraith's offensive blitz was on, with 2 more passing TDs and 4 rushing TDs. There wasn't too many stats for either team's defense, Wraith's rookie DE Jayson Kearse stood out with a sack and a late forced fumble to end it but other then that not too much to mention. The Wraiths had the ball for an incredible 41 minutes and put up 591 yards, never allowing the Hawks defense to get a rest. Both rookie Wraiths RBs had 90+rushing yards, while gunslinger Cooter Bigsby racked up 395 yards in the air.
2) Holiday Bowl
This was my first season in the NSFL and me and the team made it to the Ultimus, and the fact that this season's game is during the holidays makes it even more special. As I got to the stadium I took a look around and the inside of the stadium there were Christmas trees surrounding the stands. It was snowing quite hard and at it really brought the holiday feeling to the game. There were games for free hot chocolate and I heard a room a rumor that Santa was at the game and has even booed by some black hearted Philly fans. There were Christmas lights hung up all around the stadium including blinking in patterns that would spell out the score and the name of the teams playing. Before the game and during halftime kids were invited down to the field were on side of the field would go build snowmen, while the other side was embroiled in a big time snowball fight. The snowball fight got so big that even players from the teams go involved and a good time was had by all the young fans on the field. Another snowball fight broke out in the stands, and this one was less good natured then the one out on the field. Ice balls were thrown and some fans were politely escorted out by security.
3) Revenge
This is an easy one, the Orange County Otters. The Otters crushed my dream of winning an Ultimus by beating us by one 3 in the Championship. Considering we already beat them this season we into the game believing we would beat the Otters once again, but it wasn't to be. They took away something that was supposed to be mine, and I hate them for it. I can't wait for the chance to play them again and to get my hands on Franklin Alexander. Since they are not in my conference I only get to play them once in the regular season, but I don't care about beating the in the regular season. No, what I want is to beat them in the Ultimus like they did to me, I want them to feel what it's like to come all the way just to have the championship snatched away from you. I think the Wraiths and the Otters are the two best teams in the NSFL so I think the match up will happen, plus when you are the two best teams in league the stakes are always raised. We'll see what next season brings but there is no team I want in the league more than the Otters.
5) Offseason Needs
Looking at this team you can tell that the Wraiths are stacked, but there is always room for improvement so lets take a look at at where some areas we can improve at. First group up is the LB core, since we have a lot of great safeties we would use on or two of them at LB, with the loss of Logan Uchiha it means the line up will have to be re shuffled. Currently there is only one active LB so that would be my top priority. Next up is DT there are currently no active DTs on the roster as rookie DE Jayson Kearse spent his rookie season filling in at the DT spot, if the Wraiths can find another DT that would help mesh the DL a little more. Lastly would be WR, there are 2 stars playing there but with Sunnycursed retiring there leaves an open spot for someone to step in and make a name for themselves, in a system that likes to air it out. With new management taking over the Wraiths this offseason it will be interesting to see if they believe there are the same holes on the roster and just what they are going to do to get the team back to the Ultimus.
