2. Holiday Bowl
This year the Ultimus and Ultimini landed on the holiday season. What a special occasion. We must find a way to celebrate. First, the field must be covered in snow. It just has to be done. It may get messy part way through the game depending on where it is played but it looks so good. Second, players will be allowed themed equipment because we like to have fun in this league and allow players to celebrate on and off the field. Third, lights. Lights everywhere. The stadium must only be lit by thematic string lights. It does not matter how many it takes, you can buy 100 feet of lights for five bucks at your local department store. Just don't throw too high or the ball might get stuck in the string of lights dangling above the field. And last but certainly not least, there must be a big fan giveaway. Without the fans, we have no league. Celebrate a little and give back to those who show up to the field rain or shine and cheer on their favorite team. After all, isn't that the spirit of this time a year? The fans deserve a great game of football and so do the players. Just don't tell the fire marshals about all the lights. They might throw a fit.

9. Brotherly Love
I might not be on a team yet but I do have a soft spot for some players in my draft class. We are all competing to be on a team come draft time but we can still be friends here. Cal Lidous recruited me to the league and we can go back and forth throwing jabs at each other but in the end, we are great friends. He's helped me grow as a person and a player. He's put in a good word for me to teams and I would do the same for him. We might end up on different teams and be competing against each other come a few weeks from now but I know we will still be buddies off the field even when things may get heated on the field. Who knows. We might end up on the same team and he might be throwing touchdown passes to me. I think it will work better if we be rivals because we feed off of each others energy. I could go on and on about so many people in this league because we have a history but I'll wrap up by saying this community is fantastic even though I have been exposed to it for such a short amount of time. I can't wait to make even more friendships and rivalries along the way.

11. Interview a Draftee
Interviewed: Holden Summers - LB
1. What made you decide to be a linebacker?
There is something about tackling the ball handler that feeds my inner hunger. A lot of glory comes with being on the offense and rushing down the field and scoring but the idea of stopping the opposing offense in their tracks is satisfying. I imagine myself as a giant wall, but not one that doesn't move. I'm a concrete wall that's coming for the opposition. The football is my tracking beacon and I will reach it. Oh, I also immensely enjoy intercepting passes. I've worked a ton on handling the ball and I look forward to bringing that skill to the DSFL.
2. What qualities are you looking for in a team?
I'm looking for a team that is active, social and has the desire to succeed. The DSFL/NSFL is a new commitment for me and I'm hoping the team that drafts me will commit to me as well. I'm here to make a name for myself and I want to play for a team that understands that. I want them to help me learn and how to get better. I want a team that will help me succeed.
3. How will you make yourself stand out from all the other rookies?
I'm going to be myself. I'm a very friendly and active individual who tosses out dad jokes from time to time. I also like to make graphics and write. I think my writings will be a bit more narrative instead of newsy, though, as I like to tell a story rather than report on one. For example, I'm considering a piece now about the final game of my college season. I also know a lot of people and have the desire to be a star so I'm not going anywhere. This is a new home for me and I'm coming in hot.
4. Pancakes, waffles, or french toast and why?
I'm not much of a breakfast fan so I rarely eat any of those. I like omelets and I'm getting really good at making them! If I had to choose, though, I'd go with pancakes. I do enjoy lathering them up with butter and syrup.
